@GreenFire The Kei truck does have a smaller bed.

But how often will the Silverado's owner use all that extra space?

PLUS the Kei truck's bed sides fold down into a flatbed! And some have a hydraulic lift for dumping too making them THREE trucks in one!

I would take the Kei truck, hazards notwithstanding.

Vehicles are allowed to be sold as road-legal in the that would be completely illegal in the due to their front being basically a lethal wall, increasing the chance of more severe and lethal trauma by less protected traffic participants like pedestrian, cyclists, scooter and motorcycle drivers as well as smaller vehicles...

@kkarhan@mstdn.social avatar

@threetails @douglasvb @GreenFire @fuchsiii For example the only way to get those front "grills" or rather push bars legal in Germany that are commonplace on U.S. trucks and cop cars is by importing them and restoring the car with documentation for this to be "period correct as sold to initial customer"...

Otherwise these are just flatout illegal due to being extremely lethal towards non-cars and non-trucks when hit...

@GreenFire oh it seems that bed is related to what is flat (plat·e)
Truck bed : plateforme
Garden bed : plate-bande (flat strip in french)

Interesting differentiation between what the serfs versus nobles used to describe things after the Norman invasion perhaps like pork versus pig and beef versus cow, but I'm not an etymologist.
