Sorry, did the School Board itself ban the books, or were they just caught in the middle?
My impression was that the book bans came from these state government, no?

Line up the lawsuits. That is how this war will be fought. It is the one power the citizenry has left. In addition, people should stop analyzing the merits or presuming a certain outcome as has been the way of the fair thinking liberal. Just do it. And do it aggressively and the first moment that you can. The ACLU is no longer the go to for solving these issues as they are struggling to keep up with retaining our rights. SUE SUE SUE!
@penguinrandom@PENamerica 3. Baggett has challenged books like "When Wilma Rudolph Played Basketball," the story of a sprinter who overcame her physical limitations and racial prejudice to become an Olympic champion.
And "And Tango Makes Three," the story of two male penguins who raise an adopted chick
@penguinrandom@PENamerica 4. Overall, Baggett has challenged more than 150 books. Her challenges have been consistently rejected by the county's materials review committee.
But the committee has been overruled by the Escambia County School Board, which has sided with Baggett
@penguinrandom@PENamerica 5. In January, Popular Information spoke with current and former students of Baggett who alleged she was openly racist and homophobic in class
"[Baggett] said in the Bible somewhere it says that it is a sin for races to mix together"
@penguinrandom@PENamerica 6. The lawsuit argues that it is unconstitutional for the school board to ban books "in a narrowly partisan or political manner.”
This is based on the fundamental Constitutional principle prohibiting "the official suppression of ideas."
The lawsuit notes that the Escambia school board has "consistently acceded to, and ratified, Baggett’s blatantly political and message-based objections"
Further, "the books being singled out for possible removal are disproportionately books by non-white and/or LGBTQ authors"
