I absolutely adore Cornel West for 2024 Independent nominee -- and agree that his candidacy probably will be enhanced by the :birdsite: People who never left maybe do not understand how difficult it is for people who quit to read or get Twitter users' tweets or anything, tho?
All those floods and weather emergencies in SoCal? I tried searching for NWS Fontana Flood Alert by where my sister-in-law is staying for awhile. Google, Bing, Yahoo -- all want to point me to Twitter. Click. Okay, where exactly are the flash flood emergencies?
Nope, I was told I needed a login. NWS Los Angeles Twitter account has been GATED. By a bleeping Gatekeeper. Same as FB. Is why Lahaina town burned down.

Elon overpaid for Twitter. He's just like 45 in that he loves popularity contest numbers and did/would do ANYTHING to keep getting that narcotic high from feeling "liked" and "popular" on corporate media, same as Instgram users.
Tangential: I'm old enough to remember that 45 was using Twitter to literally terrorize his female opponent in the open the first time he ran BECAUSE she was a WOMAN. That kind of thing was encouraged because Twitter had IPO'd.
I'm not gonna look it up, but vaguely remember Drumpf wanted to pay Twitter to make a custom emoji to diss Hilary for being "corrupt", but Twitter said no (and Facebook said "YES, we will do ANYTHING to enhance and promote your corruption, Drumpf!")
Anyway, just look at history. 45's goons have not stopped ramping up terrorism on women and black ppl and Indigenous to the American tectonic plate ppl since.
Anyway, recommending that y'all PLEASE do make sure that Cornel uses his campaign donations WISELY to build a healthy PUBLIC INTERNET PRESENCE on Mastodon where his wisdom will not be gatekept.

The up+down arrow buttons stopped working , like that doozy of MIcrosoft-pwn'd JDK that only lets ppl scroll right and left. Peculiar black pixels have also showed up on the site when I am inputting text and sometimes in the text box input, which is just creepy.
@indie sounds like some sort of browser canvas issue. If you are able to get screen shots or can reproduce it, I'd recommend opening an issue in the Mastodon github issue tracker
@indie I just asked the community if anyone else is seeing anything like that. I see no evidence of what you're reporting, and no evidence any of the code we're running has been tampered with.
I already told folks I don't think you are policing any content on site, is probably because you are federating w/Threads and we have already determined that Zuck hates servers and admins he cannot police.
Or it's a "cloud" server monitor or cloudflare-related thing that you'd know more about than me.
Edit: you also made a comment the other day about "active users" falling off of infosec? I dunno, I'd see them as related if I were you.
@indie I've had no other reports of the problem you're reporting, and I see no evidence of any issues. I'd be quite interested in what you see in your browser console.
I am not sure about the tie to Threads, or the drop in active users???
@hayo@indie perhaps. I know that older browsers are having some odd issues with some of the recent library changes, and I've seen a lot of issues over the years with different security/privacy plugins in mastodon, but none manifested like what is reported here. It sounds a lot like a problem in the browser, particularly since there are 16000 other security and forensics people currently using the site without issue
