Yeah, this is why I say that @potus forced the hand of the Fediverse.

Like it or not, most Americans want to see President Biden’s messages. I therefore suspect that many people will migrate to servers where they can follow him.

I’m not saying certain servers are wrong for de-federating Threads. But just because a server enacts a policy doesn’t mean that end users agree with it. Both figuratively and literally, people have a right to vote in the matter.

If they haven’t already, they will vote with their feet.

If an instance has defederated from threads.net, it's users can't see @ potus@threads.net anymore? Really?

I thought there was a work-around.

The reason I'm saying this:
About a year ago, some of us looked into the practices of tankies on some servers. As a side note, I learned that there are "really bad" parts of the that most users don't want to do anything about, which is why mist admins deferated their instances from them (sort of like a "..."

Why wouldn't this be possible for ' handle from ?

@HistoPol Yeah, this is why I said, in another thread, that de-federation does not prevent de-federated servers from accessing your public feed.

So, why not just circumvent the if you are on suchvan instance?
What am I missing?

@HistoPol It goes both ways. If you’re circumventing the Fediblock by mirroring @potus on another server, there’s no moral high ground when Threads mirrors an account from a server that Fediblocks them.

And of course, that probably will happen. However, many people want to de-federate Threads because they believe this will prevent Threads from accessing their public feed. And that’s just plain wrong.

Either way, I doubt the servers de-federating Threads will mirror his account on their servers because what these servers want, more than anything, is moral high ground.

Well, moral high ground is something important.

As my instance, mastodon.social, is pursuing a different strategy, methinks that @Gargron would be the perfect sponsor for all celeb accounts on to set up .
Apart from boosting traffic on the flagship instance, it would be an infrastructure service for the whole , as all others could just follow this (mirrored) account.

If POTUS' digital press team wants feedback,...

Defederating account.

...it knows where it can find them. 😉

Maybe this will speed up the Admistration's own native instance setup.
