@GottaLaff Originally from Canada. We did move back to Canada at one point and for me the instant stress-reducer was not having to worry about my health insurance, once the provincial coverage kicked in after 3 months. I had lost my job and was on Cobra.
Politically, there were still major issues then, ie the Harper government. And I had found lot of people less vocal and more passive and eventually we decided it was a mistake and moved back. But we weren't in BC :); we lived in Toronto.
Mind you I had so loved Toronto in the past that it really surprised me, wanting to come back and I was in denial for a couple years about it. I hope it's a great move for you. There are a lot of great places and people up there. Generally speaking, a more gentle people imo.Wishing you the best! If I were younger, I might move back again, but I'm tired of moving.
@GottaLaff Ugh, where - Bay area away from San Fran...more north? Central Valley? Was surprised to hear years ago how conservative parts of the bay area area were....when you're from the MIdwest you don't realize how much the state varies.

@GottaLaff Feeling your pain, Laffy 😢 I haven't been back home (to the US) in 14 years and I'm almost afraid to visit, considering how the national mood has deteriorated since '09. I've witnessed horrifying changes in the UK during that time and the US just might push me over the edge! 😑
@GottaLaff So many people assume states like CA, OR, and WA are "safe" blue states. While the odds are fairly good that they will remain mostly in the D column, we should not get complacent. Here in OR, there is strong support for the tRump party. Most of it is in the more rural areas, but it feels like it's creeping into our suburbs. My brother in WA has noticed this in his area as well. It's frightening. WTH is wrong with people?!🤦♀️ Safe travels. For everyone else, don't despair. #VoteBlue2024

And here I thought that nonsense was calming down because we don't see it nearly as much in El Dorado county as we did in 2020. California certainly is a state of wide variety.
@housepanther We have excellent healthcare in the US because of the Writers Guild, but generally, yes! Public Medicare for all style beats US coverage anytime
