BBC = The Twilight Zone. I no longer watch its news coverage on anything, ditto ITV and Sky. Can't recall the last time I watched C4 News. The UK is like a parallel universe and I'm staying away from it as much as possible.
@MadeyeTheCarnaptious Same. Very, very occasional clips from Sky on the dark side but otherwise I stick to outlets which are not fatally compromised by their boards or their own journalists' biases.
The embarrassing farce of Westminster; the monarchy; public services in chaos; lip service to democracy; Rwanda; Little Englander xenophobia; Brexit; support for the genocidal Israeli state; needless cruel austerity; industrial-scale opportunism corruption and greed; spineless media....
@MadeyeTheCarnaptious Tell me about it! The current situation in Scotland and Wales is so fucking depressing too. It feels like the Sais have got the upper hand 😔
The fact that the current Senedd and Scottish Parliament administrations are turning in on themselves with internal problems isn't helping. Their first duties are to the people of Wales and Scotland.
That image of Oliver Twist begging for more from the original film once accompanied a "Scotsman" piece by Murdo Fraser, a Tory MSP and relentless parasite who accused the Scottish Government of being ungrateful beggars.
“The way in which the fiscal gap for Wales is calculated by the UK’s Office for National Statistics is sufficiently clear for a political analysis to determine which aspects of this subvention will be relevant for an independent Wales. My analysis has determined that the figure will be approximately £2.6bn, significantly lower that the figure of £13.4bn, frequently quoted in the media.”
The same con trick is being perpetrated in Ireland by 'experts' in the Republic no less, who're clearly exaggerating the costs involved in reunification. Lies, damned lies and bollocks statistics. See also GERS in Scotland for the greatest load of bollocks of them all.
@MadeyeTheCarnaptious@AngleseyStick@fkamiah17 That's interesting - is it the same argument "The Republic of Ireland is too "poor" to afford reunification", or is it that NI would be a "drag" on the Republic? I note a 2022 poll putting reunification at around 65% in The Republic.
@fkamiah17 ah yes the International Court of Justice and the World Health Organisation are famously incompetent when it comes to identifying genocide and famine. It must be their antisemitism.
