Friday is gonna be... weird. First time in public around people who 1) know me, and 2) don't know the specifics of why I was in the hospital.

I am hoping there won't be too many comments about the weight. I figured I needed to be seen now before it's much more apparent - if they don't say much now, they never will.

(I'm not ashamed of the surgery. I am just not interested in the DISCUSSION. And I DEFINITELY don't want the "oh, wow, great job" that signals that if I suddenly went back to the same weight, folks would think worse of me.*)

*SPOILER ALERT: I now do not even like to eat, so I will be surprised if that happens, but still: I do not want my worth tied to my weight, bad or good.

One of the things I hate most about living in a non-English-speaking place is that I start to lose intellectual vocabulary.

I sometimes have ideas which are really complicated to express, and I know how the structure of the argument goes, but when I get to the last part of speech production, I find that the very very specific word I need isn't there anymore, and I know that it once was.

hi i support asylum seekers and refugees in north wales. Here are the steps as we see it:

  1. Contact homeless department in council as housing is an emergency issue, unless accommodation is already sorted
  2. Apply for UC anyway, I think you can give bank details later. It's vital the person gets in system, it takes at least 5 weeks to get money
  3. We find Lloyd's bank the easiest, just give present address (and don't mention eviction), BRP card should be sufficient ID.

4) Check that everything on BRP is correct - HO housing contractor can't evict person if BRP is not valid, so it gives more breathing space
Hope that helps! I would encourage you to find an NGO supporting asylum seekers in your area. They will know best how system works in your area.
