@KingShawn dude is almost 60, he hasn’t boxed in like 20 years, and he’s fighting a Gen Z boxer coming up on his prime. That 30 year difference warrants the underdog status, don’t you think?
Also, the way Tyson fights works against Jake Paul. Tyson gets in really close, does all his best work inside taller boxers’ range, where Paul is used to his reach doing a lot of the work.
This is Paul’s first time fighting as a heavyweight, whereas Tyson is basically at his prime weight.
Finally, Paul has never fought anyone like Tyson. And I highly doubt he’s ever been hit as hard as Tyson hits.
@bynkii@KingShawn hmm, good point. If he still has close to the same hitting power as he used to and as you said, can get close, that’s a recipe for disaster. Unless Paul can lock Tyson like Holyfield did.
@bynkii@aulia Having been an amateur fighter in both those brackets, that’s absolutely true. A light heavyweight hits you and you think, “OK…I can take that.” A good heavyweight hits you and you think, “Mommy…”
@aulia@bynkii To THIS day, 30+ years on, I can still remember that first good shot to the head (I jabbed with a left, he threw a right cross to the temple) and, even with protctive gear on, part of my brain when, “Nope - fuck this…” Needless to say, I lost that match. 🤣
@bynkii@aulia Yeah those training videos are terrifying. The biggest issue with Tyson is going to be stamina. If the fight goes past 5 rounds, Paul has a chance.

@waltman@bynkii@aulia While I can imagine him losing (after all he’s not Tyson in his prime), I really don’t think it’s going to happen against Paul. Now, that may be wishful thinking but I’ve watched all the videos Tyson has posted of his training and JFC he’s STILL got some incredible power! 😳
