Totally logical. Not.

My trip Nuits-sous-Ravières to Berlin Südkreuz on Monday is all e-tickets except Strasbourg to Kehl, the section. Just collected the paper ticket at Lyon while passing here.

And yeah, I have a ticket split in Kehl because that’s the only way to get the best price for this connection. Which is also totally logical. Not.

Oh and who’d have thought someone on the Lyon-Dijon-Mulhouse-Strasbourg TGV might want to go to Germany?

TGV arrives 09:54 in Strasbourg

The Strasbourg-Offenburg RE departs at 09:52, and the next one is 10:52

@jon sometimes such things make me feel that this might be on purpose...

jon,
@jon@gruene.social avatar

@ehrba Of course extending the TGV to Karlsruhe would be even better… I’ll only know Monday if it’s the right type to allow that though.

@jon The “layover” bit could (if not already) be a deliberate thing as train stations become more commercial (retail) operations. There could be a growing incentive to “make them wait” a bit. Admittedly, right now it’s probably incompetence, but eventually “evil”.

jon,
@jon@gruene.social avatar

@escottf It’s incompetence.

@elba013 Alles richtig. Und schön mein Foto da zu sehen. Die Frage bleibt natürlich: wer hat ausreichend Wille das umzusetzen?

nblr,
@nblr@chaos.social avatar

@jon Wonder if at this price point the ticket actually isn’t a net loss for SNCF and if a “you got tickets on both ends? the connection is on us.” policy would be far more profitable because people would use it more often.

jon,
@jon@gruene.social avatar

@nblr you’re thinking too logically. The issue here is simply no one thought to fix this (would be my best guess anyway - Saarbrücken to France is exactly the same)

dl1eam,
@dl1eam@nrw.social avatar

@jon But it looks like it's available online through DB also.

jon,
@jon@gruene.social avatar

@dl1eam but then I’d need 3 bookings rather than just 2…

dl1eam,
@dl1eam@nrw.social avatar

@jon okay..

jon,
@jon@gruene.social avatar

@dl1eam because if you try to book Strasbourg - Berlin with DB and it routes you via Offenburg you don’t get Sparpreis. You only do from Kehl.

@jon How long would it take for SNCF to remove all irrelevant composter messages from tickets now that it is abolished almost everywhere?

@smveerman How long would it take for SNCF to remove the final paper tickets given digital tickets work almost everywhere?
