Looking at the behavior of some CEOs, I feel like they'd actually be the easiest people to replace with AI

malcircuit,
@malcircuit@thingy.social avatar

I mean, LLMs would make perfect CEOs

  • Confident
  • Persuasive
  • Well read
  • Never admits a mistake, and will degrade you if you point one out to it
  • Can make up reasonable sounding bullshit on the spot to explain their every action
  • Relies on exploiting the unpaid labor of thousands of people
  • Lives in a reality they invent for themselves
  • Fundamentally uncreative

Just imagine how much money companies would save by automating the C-suite!

No more pesky multimillion dollar yearly bonuses!

No more stock payouts!

No private jet!

No sexual harassment hush money payments!

mookie,

@malcircuit @vmstan Reminds me of this comic.

@malcircuit given the decisions that come out of the typical C suite, a coin flipping robot would probably out perform them.

Seriously, could they do any worse than Elon?

malcircuit,
@malcircuit@thingy.social avatar

Companies with an AI C-suite will be more efficient and therefore more competitive than old, slow, human corporate executives. If you want the company you work for to succeed and maximize shareholder value, encourage your higher-ups to take a break and replace themselves with AI!

Oh, what's that you say? They insist their job is too complex for an AI and they can't be replaced? Nonsense! They need to learn to adapt to this new technological revolution! It's the inevitable future!

jorgedeleon,

@malcircuit Can the AI negotiate or build relationships with the client? Maybe it will work for certain "low touch" scenarios, but for what I do (commercial insurance) relationships and the ability to use independent judgment are very important.

@aeva@mastodon.gamedev.place avatar

@jorgedeleon @malcircuit that's easy when two companies want to have businesse relations, you just point their ChatCEO instances at eachother and give them a prompt like "you're going to drink entirely too much alcohol and do cocaine with another CEO, and then make business deals together"

jorgedeleon,

@aeva @malcircuit I can tell by your response that you don't have much experience in the corporate world, but just for color please know that there are many, many people with families who are honestly just making a living, so my question is a legitimate one - and here you are assuming it's all about "coke and alcohol", or whatever, which is ridiculous.

larsmb,
@larsmb@mastodon.online avatar

@malcircuit An engineering cooperative that hands the pesky squishy unsavory tasks of public relations, sales, and CxO announcements to an LLM so we (I mean they!) can get on with getting stuff done?
Hmmm

driusan,

@malcircuit You might have been trying to convince me that CEOs can be replaced by LLMs, but you've accidentally convinced me that CEOs are LLMs.

dalias,
@dalias@hachyderm.io avatar

@driusan @malcircuit Jokes aside, this is why CEOs are so attracted to the LLM scam. This is how they think everything works - since they don't understand anything their companies actually do and just think repeating the right patterns makes money appear, they assume the same applies to the actually-skilled ppl actually doing the work.

@dalias @driusan @malcircuit

There is just the small matter of an anti-billionaire bias that seem to have acquired from hoovering up all the Internet discussions which talk about them

sphinx,

@malcircuit

God in Heaven, you don't even need an LLM. I could write a Python script to replace your average CEO.

niko,
@niko@mk.absturztau.be avatar

@malcircuit idk it's very impressive how they manage to be so hateable and make like the worst decisions possible. I'd say AI needs some work before being able to do that

Dadlyambitions,
@Dadlyambitions@mastodon.social avatar

@malcircuit imagine all the profit sharing that could be done replacing someone who makes over 300x the average worker, it's astounding.
