@sebastianhahn Yes! We have four lakes around our city. On 20-30km run you can run beside all of them. I run a half marathon in between every four weeks or so.
@rolle@sebastianhahn I’ll warn you, Roni. I now wake up at my old bed time. Spent 47 years as a night owl, now I’m starting my day before 5am (to avoid running in the heat). Sebastian’s up even earlier. It can happen to you too! 🤣
@WTL Been running continuously for two years now and I still hate mornings every single morning! :joy_animated: Always a pain to wake up. @sebastianhahn
@WTL@rolle Great. You‘re in your best spot right now. One day I must visit Ottawa (which ain‘t easy because I don‘t like flying), then we‘ll have to run together. I‘m counting on you to show me the best places in your lovely town.
@sebastianhahn@rolle You'll get my famous WTL's tour of Ottawa; we'll rack up a lot of KMs and I get to introduce you to some poutine with heavy metal on the side. 🤣 I won't be anywhere remotely as fast as you, though.
All of this sounds awesome as a metal guy. Although I've never tried running with a company. I hate flying and travelling too, but Ottawa would be wonderful to see some day.
@rolle I usually get up at 2:45 am to get my running done before work. I’m a teacher, so during the holidays I sleep long until 5:15 or 5:30 am. At 47 there are days that require some self-convincing. But I‘m running with audiobooks or podcasts, they do keep me company. And with fellow Mastodon-runners like @WTL there‘s nothing I wouldn‘t try to achieve.
@sebastianhahn I often don't fall asleep before midnight. It just doesn't happen, except if I have slept poorly the previous night. The best sleep rhythm for me would be from midnight to 8. @WTL
@rolle@WTL@eljas With me it‘s the other way around: I usually see the sun rise while running. And I meet lots of different animals in the woods. Sometimes I want to run very fast… 🏃🏻♂️ 🐗
@rolle@WTL@eljas That must be a rather dark experience – during the winter I‘d sure like to go back to California, but during the summer, Germany is fine.
@eljas@rolle@WTL Yes, I get up around that time, get into my running clothes, do about 30-35 minutes of stretching and warm-up, then start running before 4 am, back around 6 am, shower, off to work.
@rolle@sebastianhahn I used to go to sleep sometime between 1am and 6am; and barely slept; 3-4.5 hours per night. Now, my body starts the “shutdown" process at 8:50 and I'm usually dead asleep by 9:30. Honestly, it's amazing.
