I bought this amaryllis back in November (for $5.00) so when it just sat there for weeks I figured it was a dud. And now, suddenly, it has put forth a spectacular bloom.

After spending the summer outside, I brought my amaryllis' (amarylli ?) inside. They are supposed to dry out, have a short, cool period, and then when one brings them out around November, they will start blooming. This one, however, started pushing out a flower stalk soon after being brought inside. The flower opened a few days ago, and it is absolutely gorgeous!
