People in security and computing have been saying for years - there's no cloud. There's just someone else's computer.
Right now, there's no AI. There's just someone else's work.
Stop calling generative text and image programs AI. It's inaccurate and insulting. They are just the evolution of corporate creative theft that's been going on as long as media corporations have existed.
So, if I play a game of #chess against #Stockfish , is it stealing moves from human chess players (none of whom would be able to beat Stockfish in a match)?
@ianrosewrites For that matter, if I play Dwarf Fortress Classic, who actually wrote the "generated" world?
The obvious distinction is that current generative AIs are a lot worse at producing "artistic" writing than good human writers, whereas Stockfish is much better than any human chess player.
#chess#siliconroad Meanwhile at the TCEC, a championship is taking place between engines no bigger than 4KB (which is really tiny!) The top 2 are very strong - most likely above Magnus strength I imagine though with some "little" holes (4ku failed to mate with KQ vK!) If you want to see a good example of their level, then https://tcec-chess.com/#div=4kf&game=10&season=24 is pretty good! A pretty thematic Black win in the Frencvh Steinitz! Just the first 4 moves were given as book. The rest was 4K inspiration!
#chess This video is in memory of WIM Sue Maroroa-Jones who tragically died a few days ago, aged just 32. Our thoughts go out to her family, to husband Gawain and to their children. Ever smiling and cheerful off the board, Sue was an aggressive player with plenty of attacking flair and there was no shortage of great games to select from. I've gone for a lovely attacking King's Indian from an unusual line against the Samisch played at the Reykjavik open in 2019. https://youtu.be/iO-YiJ-kkEs
I've been reading about the world of correspondence chess, which at its highest level now accepts the use of engines. Obviously a different kind of endeavor from over-the-board chess, more in the area of research than what we usually think of as chess. Pretty interesting, and I'm sure there are some exciting theoretical discoveries being made by the people who enjoy it, though you get the impression there is less and less water being wrung from that stone. https://en.chessbase.com/post/correspondence-chess-and-correspondence-database-2018#chess

In this 2+1 bullet game, I had the white pieces and I already sacrificed the exchange for a pawn and an attacking position. Black just played 19. ... Rad8. I found a nice move here which gives White the edge. Can you find it, too? #Chess
