I made two interactive sketches this week based on black and white op-art works from the 1960s by Bridget Riley. I tried to make them accurate and efficient, and see how they could be transformed. An untitled work known as "Winged Curves" gave me a lot of trouble, but it turned out really well, and has a nice 3D effect. Today I had an easier time recreating a work titled "Opening", though it was still a decent challenge.
I think I got it! Just need to wait for the federated posts to start showing up! I chose #genart, #genartclub, #GenerativeArt, and #creativecoding to start with. If you have any other suggestions let me know and I'll add them in!
Edit: also just lemme know if you want to help moderate! I have little experience managing a community and am not the best person for the job, I just wanted somewhere to post full-size genart gifs
alright! I figured out how to add tags to the magazine! Now, any post (from the whole fediverse, including mastodon) tagged with these hashtags will show up in the microblogs section of the magazine:
I was trying to work on some #CreativeCoding last night, but I wanted more control over noise generation than what I could find in the @py5coding libraries. So I wrote my own simple code to give me control over Open Simplex octaves, frequency, and persistence (after I learned what all those are) Same open simplex seed on all of these, just different variations of the other values on each #py5
✅ Setup complete!
In my latest video I talk about #creativecoding for a multimedia installation in cooperation created with Swoosh Lieu!
🪩 Disco ball and fog machine included!

Needed a palette cleanser after today so I finished up the #CreativeCoding sketch I've been picking at the past couple of weeks. It's kind of a mashup of a lot of my previous sketches in #Py5
Generated masked circles filled with random grayscale lines, placed them on the screen based on Poisson disc sampling and then colored them based on open simplex noise
Had been so busy I forgot to enjoy coding for a while. I needed this
A portrait orientation #PenPlot of a 3 x 4 grid of 5.25" floppy disks shaded in a CMY rainbow scheme with the density of the shading darker at the top and lightening towards the bottom.
A #PenPlot on top of a 5.25" black floppy disk of a vanishing point grid drawn in thick gold ink.
A picture of a #PenPlotter in action drawing on a white 5.25" floppy disk an abstract asteroid made up of triangles that is being disintegrated by a small triangular ship drawn in the left corner that is reminiscent of Asteroids the video game.
New pen plot inspired by dazzle ships: thin bisecting white space lines with bounded areas shaded in Breton stripes. 11”x17” Bristol on a HP 7550+ #PenPlotter
Adding constraints to this dazzle ships inspired pen plot. I thought this was turned out great. Railway ties, tank track, and bar codes are what I see. What do you see? 11”x17” Bristol on a vintage HP 7550+ #PenPlotter
