🇳🇿New Zealand: "Around 30 scouts at a jamboree in Hamilton have come down with Covid-19."

"With today being the last day of the event, participants were reminded of the importance of isolating, travelling home via the most direct route and remaining masked for the duration of their journey home."

The image for week 32, is from a small park in Incheon which was where we stayed after we was evacuated from the site.

I really like how the benches just light up the area, I should try to play more with stylistic lights in my images.

LOL interview on the : "It's good and bad, but mostly bad." "The organization is very very bad and it feels like they didn't really know that there were 50,00 people people coming and s***t everywhere and stuff like that" 😂 😱 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cG6PBQIkwEQ

"We have many people in our unit that were going down due to the sun... had to go to the hospital... I think we have six people at the hospital"

(this was pre-typhoon evacuation): "I think there will be a lot of pressure on the hotels and Airbnbs and stuff because if all 50,000...scouts have to find a place, it will be very difficult" "It will be a very hard task for the Koreans to organize everything.. if we take from what we have seen earlier from organization, I don't think they will handle it well."

Another week another image it's still a placeholder image from the as it's still ongoing although now in a new weird way because of the typhoon warning.

It's weird and sad to leave the site before the end, as it just feels like we where finally getting into the stride of things. The toilets in our subcamp was finally starting to get toilet paper and soap after a week of the jamboree. I've had a wonderful, and exhausting time.

All leaving South Korea camp as looms

I have been following this story closely as a friend’s daughter is at the in . Of course I feel sorry for her and all the children affected, and this no comment on any individual invovled, but: the whole thing is just mad and what a story of our times.

@pvonhellermannn My daughter is there. Despite the heat and all the other problems, they've been having good time, and are sad that they have to leave early. Definitely a memorable , though a bit differently than they expected. :)

@AnnaAnthro I've heard the news on Italian media. It's clearly a big fail for those who organized the event. Not preparing for a heatwave in August and proper toilet/shower cleaning is unacceptable for people who paid 6000€ to attend. Italian scouts are still there but considering to move to Seoul too

Ouch. Scouting's not going well: "Scouts from the United States and the United Kingdom are leaving the site of an international scouting jamboree in South Korea after hundreds of participants fell ill due to extreme heat." https://www.aljazeera.com/news/2023/8/5/us-uk-scouts-quit-world-scout-jamboree-campsite-in-korea-over-extreme-heat?taid=64cdc5c4c01d0e0001ab1892&utm_campaign=trueAnthem%3A+Trending+Content&utm_medium=trueAnthem&utm_source=mastodon

"The World Organization of the Scout Movement has asked the South Korean organisers to consider ending the event ahead of schedule due to safety concerns.

Organisers will meet on Saturday to discuss whether to continue, suspend or scale back the event, South Korea’s Yonhap news agency reported."

More (from NBC): "Thousands of scouts in South Korea for a global event will receive more water trucks, air conditioned spaces and medics, officials said, after hundreds of the teenage participants fell ill this week due to unusually hot weather. At least 600 people at the World Scout Jamboree, which kicked off in southwestern Buan on Tuesday, have so far been treated for heat-related ailments, officials say." https://www.nbcnews.com/news/world/heatwave-world-scout-jamboree-south-korea-illness-high-temperatures-rcna98115
