🇳🇿New Zealand: "Around 30 scouts at a jamboree in Hamilton have come down with Covid-19."
"With today being the last day of the event, participants were reminded of the importance of isolating, travelling home via the most direct route and remaining masked for the duration of their journey home."
"We have many people in our unit that were going down due to the sun... had to go to the hospital... I think we have six people at the hospital" #heatwave#SouthKorea#jamboree#scouting
(this was pre-typhoon evacuation): "I think there will be a lot of pressure on the hotels and Airbnbs and stuff because if all 50,000...scouts have to find a place, it will be very difficult" "It will be a very hard task for the Koreans to organize everything.. if we take from what we have seen earlier from organization, I don't think they will handle it well." #SouthKorea#jamboree#scouting#typhoon#disaster
Another week another image it's still a placeholder image from the #jamboree as it's still ongoing although now in a new weird way because of the typhoon warning.
It's weird and sad to leave the site before the end, as it just feels like we where finally getting into the stride of things. The toilets in our subcamp was finally starting to get toilet paper and soap after a week of the jamboree. I've had a wonderful, and exhausting time.
I have been following this story closely as a friend’s daughter is at the #Jamboree in #Seoul. Of course I feel sorry for her and all the children affected, and this no comment on any individual invovled, but: the whole thing is just mad and what a story of our times.
@pvonhellermannn My daughter is there. Despite the heat and all the other problems, they've been having good time, and are sad that they have to leave early. Definitely a memorable #jamboree, though a bit differently than they expected. :)
@AnnaAnthro I've heard the news on Italian media. It's clearly a big fail for those who organized the event. Not preparing for a heatwave in August and proper toilet/shower cleaning is unacceptable for people who paid 6000€ to attend. Italian scouts are still there but considering to move to Seoul too #jamboree#SouthKorea#scoutinternationalmeeting#scouts
"The World Organization of the Scout Movement has asked the South Korean organisers to consider ending the event ahead of schedule due to safety concerns.
