🇳🇿New Zealand: "Around 30 scouts at a jamboree in Hamilton have come down with Covid-19."
"With today being the last day of the event, participants were reminded of the importance of isolating, travelling home via the most direct route and remaining masked for the duration of their journey home."
Free College Church Mission Hall on North Woodside Road in Glasgow. Built in the 1870s in a Gothic style, this hall is where the Boys Brigade was founded in 1883, which is 25 years before the Boy Scouts were formed, making it the oldest uniformed youth organisation in the world.
Hearing news bits about the scouting jamboree thing in South Korea, the whole thing sounds like an exercise in not thinking things through and NOT "being prepared."
From failing infrastructure to exposure to extreme heat with minimal respite, to a site that was reclaimed from the sea, to typhoon season with incoming storm, and a ridiculously huge crowd that takes days to evacuate. It just keeps going on.
Apparently all of the #scouts from #Norway were also evacuated to US #military bases. "Some 700 scouts from the Scandinavian country took part in the event and they were to be relocated to a U.S. military base" #WorldScoutJamboree
Another week another image it's still a placeholder image from the #jamboree as it's still ongoing although now in a new weird way because of the typhoon warning.
It's weird and sad to leave the site before the end, as it just feels like we where finally getting into the stride of things. The toilets in our subcamp was finally starting to get toilet paper and soap after a week of the jamboree. I've had a wonderful, and exhausting time.
The #sunrise where pretty good or at least the one i saw waking up early one day to help with breakfast preparations, so thats this week's image as I've already shared a sunset image
I have been following this story closely as a friend’s daughter is at the #Jamboree in #Seoul. Of course I feel sorry for her and all the children affected, and this no comment on any individual invovled, but: the whole thing is just mad and what a story of our times.
@AnnaAnthro I've heard the news on Italian media. It's clearly a big fail for those who organized the event. Not preparing for a heatwave in August and proper toilet/shower cleaning is unacceptable for people who paid 6000€ to attend. Italian scouts are still there but considering to move to Seoul too #jamboree#SouthKorea#scoutinternationalmeeting#scouts
