Highs in March here ranged between 40°F (4.4°C) and 80°F (26.7°C). I'm still struggling to reconcile hitting 80°F on March 3rd. I'd expect that in maybe late April.
Whew - common sense prevails in one of the smallest markets in the #MLB - the Kansas City Royals asked the city if they would want a new stadium closer to center downtown. The answer was a cautious "yes." But just a few weeks ago, when the Royals unveiled their development proposal, it was for a site that was never discussed, sending some small local biz owners into a spiral, because they were watched their near-future plans implode.
So #KCMO's entertainment/service/minority sectors fought back
The vote to deny or award the Kansas City Royals a new stadium generated quite a large voter participation rate, which is rare in #KCMO - thanks in part to a groundswell of organic messaging by KC's creative community, tenants rights groups and public media outlets that moved people to polls on Tues, even though the Vote Yes factions outspent them, to the tune of $3M vs Vote No's $42k
@atomicpoet I was working the door at a music club in #KCMO one night and these kids started loading in. It wasn't their first show, but it was pretty early on. I think Solomon was 12. The set they played was a mix of a few of different styles, but by the time they came back around again, they had fully committed to the throwback spooky punk vibe and they sounded WAY better and tighter in just those few months.

If you are #trans and a minor in #Missouri, the #MOleg has taken your access to transition healthcare away. (Because they're awful people with empty lives, and I'm sorry they have power over us.)
There is a program that will help connect you and your parents with gender-affirming medical care in another state, with small grants to help with travel:
I am a #KCCurrent fan. The team has leaned into #KCBaby chant hard for the 2023 #NWSL season. “KC Baby!”is everywhere this year and quickly becoming part of team identity. I think it comes straight from the huddle. I should love it, but I don’t. One of the littles in my life nailed it earlier:
Adult: “KC Baby!”
4yo: “But they’re not babies. They’re big girls. …and they can handle it.”
Damn straight little one. [starry eyed] #KCMO#KCK
@spaceraser Games are available via Paramount+. #KCCurrent are building thd first women’s professional sports stadium in the world at Berkley Riverfront Park. (Vertical construction already begun.) It’s exciting and fun for #KCMO. I love the positive and inclusive atmosphere of the Team. #NWSL
Missouri temporary restraining order against Andrew Bailey's trans healthcare ban is extended to July 24. The new hearing for a preliminary injunction is July 20.
Let me #introduce myself. I’ve lived mostly in #texas but spent 10 years in #KCMO. Part time #photographer, part time #musician, full time day job slave. #BLM#LGBTQ ally. Animal lover but allergic to cats. I am a big #record collector and have two weekly community radio shows called #Jazz Roulette on Saturdays at 5PM CST and the #Vinyl Revival Hour on Sundays at 6PM CST, streaming at https://kuzu.fm. Traveled extensively inside the US for 15 years, but I don't have that job anymore.
I just learned about CuriousKC by Flatland and I love it.
