I recently installed #Mageia on an old PC and it works beautifully. I highly recommend if nothing else is working. It is the continuation of #Mandriva#Linux which was one of my first experiences with a Unix-like operating system. https://www.mageia.org/en/about/
So, I'm about to do some random #OpenSource development work, particularly @fedora, @AsahiLinux, @opensuse, @centos, and #Mageia work. If y'all are interested in seeing me do my thing, come by my Twitch stream!
Mageia (along with Open Mandriva) is one of the two forks from Mandriva Linux, which come from Mandrake Linux.
I miss Mandrake Linux.
For those who don't recall, Mandrake Linux was one of the first and perhaps the only Linux distro that gave Microsoft a scare. Its popularity and ease of use was so successful, you could have purchased a PC from your local tech store with it pre-installed.
Even my Grandparents had heard of, and used, Mandrake Linux.
Sadly, Mandrake Linux became Mandriva Linux when the French distribution Mandrake Linux and the Brazilian distribution Conectiva Linux, combined forces.
It did not go over as smoothly, both the development and the financials. In time, Mandriva Linux would shut down.
But from them came Mageia and OpenMandriva. A shadow of what was, but still, not a complete loss.
