I went into my local convenience store and they have treyf food!
I'm all for inclusion, but the name of this store makes it clear what kind of food they sell. It's like if you had a vegan restaurant, you wouldn't sell beef!
“How can #Christians celebrate both Yom Saint #Valentine Ha’Kodesh, and also Ash Fourthday, since they fall on the same #Christian date this year?”
I have it all worked out. I know a lot of Christians (I even have six (6) Christian friends) so I’m happy to solve this one for you. My Christian friends say I know more about Christianity than most Christians!
Tomorrow some of your Christian students may be observing the Christian holiday of Yom Saint Valentine Ha’Kadosh, more commonly known as Christian Tu B’Av. It is one of their important religious ‘Feast Days’ that even the least frum observe.
As you may know if you have any students in your class who identify as Christian, they may ask to be excused from school to observe the #Christian#holiday of “Christmas,” more popularly referred to as Yom Christmas.
I just learned this recently from my Christian friend Christina and as a good #ally I want to pass it on!
It turns out that #Christmas is NOT the Christian Chanukkah, and Christmas does NOT have the theme of military rebellion against an oppressive foreign power.
So I guess all of the “Lights & Rebellion” posters we put up for our #school#holiday#party are somehow not #inclusive of Christians!
@dave0@jewwhohasitall Given that their Tree is supposed to grow chocolate eggs that hatch into very cute bunnies, I don’t think we can expect their holiday to make sense.
I was out shopping with my Christian friend Christina and, not gonna lie, it was kind of a downer.
At #Aldi they had the cutest little boxes of cookies that were also a music box and Christina couldn’t stop sighing that she couldn’t buy one because the music was somehow no good.
As we said, we included a #Christmas#Candelabra in our display to honor our Christian employees. Plenty of Christians light a Christmas Candelabra so I’m not sure why you’re suggesting this is not a #Christian#custom.
I got yesterday’s #NYT#Connections#puzzle because I have seven (7) Christian friends. I don’t know how normal people were otherwise expected to get this.
Also, I’m side-eyeing a gifting minhag that includes people.
As we all know, humans have celebrated the equinoxes since at least the time they began building megalithic sites. While we can't know what meaning this time of the year meant to our gatherer-hunter ancestors, they must have been aware both of the waning of the light and of the last bounty of nature in the north at this time of year. Perhaps it was time to travel southward. We have always been a migratory species!
Before this compromise was brokered (by Dr Aiden A. Kelly, one of our brethren in #MedinatAmerica!) the Equinox was variously known as Harvest Home, 'Bactoskul' (a name of unknown origin, possibly referring to ritual cultivation of yeast or other fermentation within repurposed human or animal skulls) or a number of other names, most of which could also be applied to Lammas/Lughnasadh. This caused a lot of confusion and annoyance, and double booking of stone circles.
Since the calendar was released, people already complained that we scheduled the dance recital for Tevet 13, simply because it's "25 December" on their Pope Gregory Calendar.
Know that we care but simply cannot accommodate EVERYONE's #holidays.
I gave my Christian friend Christina my #calendar as a #RoshHashanah#gift and she complained that "Lent" (more commonly known as the Second Christian Omer) is a fast and should be denoted as such.
I told her that simply eating pareve isn’t a fast.
Besides, if we included that as a fast then the #vegetarians would want us to include Meatless "Mondays" on the calendar and it’s a slippery slope from there!
Since the #calendar was released, some people already complained that we scheduled the youth orchestra concert for Tevet 13, simply because it is "25 December" on their Pope Gregory Calendar.
Know that we care but simply cannot accommodate EVERYONE's #holidays.
Is anyone else getting a little stressed out by all of the social media ads for #sukkahs? I know that you need time for shipping if you're going to buy one online but for real, I'm super stressed out seeing it everywhere when it's not even #RoshHashanah yet.
And if I needed a new #sukkah I would just go to Bayit Depot for a regular one, I don't need the newest clickbait sukkah with the fancy new EZ-BILD technology.
