@mina i hitched a ride once on a beer carrying truck that looked like it wouldn’t be out of place in a WW2 documentary to get from #Huancabamba#Oxapampa to #Pozuzo (both in the peruvian mountain jungle). Driver didn’t seem concerned that his brakes didn’t work at all and used only engine breaking on the unpaved winding road while not going all too slow… made friends with the driver and tasted his beer with him once at the destination where we celebrated #Oktoberfest in the jungle.
I've always been against arbitrary scales to rate things; numbers giving the false impression of truth. But now I'm meant to rate the cleanliness of the toilets at #Hamburg airport on a scale of #Oktoberfest ? It's wrong on so many levels. First Oktoberfest is over, two this is North Germany and last...how does an accordion signify a bad toilet?

Das Münchner Oktoberfest hat in diesem Jahr die Rekordzahl von 7,2 Millionen Besuchern verzeichnet. Nie zuvor strömten so viele Menschen auf die "Wiesn".

To recap the #Oktoberfest, it was just so much fun. And not just the beer drinking (which really was partying in orderly chaos, German style), but also all the rides. I particularly enjoyed the old rides and attractions. Rotor was hilarious to ride (it's basically a spinning centrifuge where they then pull away the floor and you're then stuck to the wall), while watching Teufelsrad was great entertainment: you basically get onto a spinning platform and try to stay on as long as possible.
@akrennmair I recall entering the Augustiner tent after dawn and exiting not knowing what time it was at dusk. Time stands still inside an #Oktoberfest tent while life goes on outside. It felt like space-time was folded. 🍻
Oh, and I forgot one thing: the most bizarre thing I've ever seen: a mock beheading at Oktoberfest. And it's even super traditional, as the place has been doing that show for over 150 years. Also, incredibly ridiculous.
