Who’s responsible? The mayor of neoliberalism, Jim Fucking Watson, and the corrupt conglomerate led by SNC Lavalin.

I'll be closing my centretown3d.ca online store at the end of the month due to low sales and high Shopify rates for a 'basic' store (with admittedly little promotion). Get your local 3D greeting cards while they're still available online (a selection will continue to be available at Highjinx on Kent) #Ottawa #OttCity #Centretown

I can confirm that the lineup for #Beavertails in the Market is much shorter than the one on the #RideauCanal skateway. #Ottawa #OttCity

People are gathering at the Elgin police station to protest the arrest.

Apparently, according to Ottawa Police, you can block streets in the downtown for weeks in a "protest" against public health regulations, but you can't gather on an out-of-the-way, dead-end, industrial street in support of striking employees.

"We want the street to be for them, for pedestrians, for people who walk their dogs, for the neighbourhood."

Gotta love Ottawa's facility naming policy. If it's a small local park or sports field then picking a "community builder" is allowed but if it's a large arena or swimming pool it's gotta be a developer or perhaps a car dealership.

Trying to call 311 to report a pedestrian safety hazard and the system just told me to call back on a weekday during business hours and hung up on me. Traffic signals issues can't be reported online (last I checked). What a terrible disservice - and hazard! - to the citizens of . How many people will give up trying to report hazards when they encounter this!

Fun fact: when builds stairs that work in the snow without maintenance, they don't "need" to fence them off:

👋Ottawa, October 16 - 20 is week! Want to scoot, cycle or walk for part or all of your trip to school?

Here are some resources to plan your active trip and make it count!

SchoolStreetsYOW,

If you want to walk, scoot or bike to school but do not feel safe doing so, tell us why. This data helps us tell policy makers the trip you want to take (but can’t).

is begging people to come downtown to patronize the businesses there, but then detour all the buses down Richmond Road. How much extra fuel are we burning? Detouring and delaying hundreds of buses from the transit-way every weekend? OC Transpo detours hundred of buses carrying thousands of riders qnd burning millions in fuel so that the wealthy Island Park neighbourhood can use the transit-way as a bike path for their performative cycling. This is not resource equity, this is climate arson and greenwashing.

Well Pennsylvania based company with Canada in their name that wants me to insure 10 feet of pipe in front of my house is certainly persistent and only way to remove me from the mailing list is to call them. I'm not interested in listening to their spiel, so not going to happen. Why does City of Ottawa not have to ask me before giving them my name and address.

When you've been apartment hunting for over a year, you see a lot of the same apartments coming back in the market. Just saw one 2-bedroom I looked at last summer at $1900 now posted at $2200.

Renters are facing around 15% increase on turnover rents compared to last year but can't imagine asking homeowners to pay more than 2.5% increase in taxes.

I went to the lovely NCC River House to read and relax after watching the hot air balloons and even though it was early it was already busy and when I left at ~10:30am it was already at capacity (no line yet, but I’m sure there is one by now).

Please, if you live in the neighbourhood (Somerset & Preston), review this “concept plan” and fill out the survey. The overall intentions are good, but are somewhat poorly executed.
