r/Firefox is doing it right - The mods announced they were reopening the #subreddit, but made it so new posts could only be pictures of foxes or red pandas…then said if people wanted to post about technical stuff, to do it on their kbin.
THAT is how you do it. The subreddit is so there, but functionally unusable, and there’s direction to the new place. #Reddit

I had a #video#encoding question last night, so I googled it. The first hit was EXACTLY what I needed. It was phrased better, and promised a complete fix to my problem.
But when I followed the link, the #subreddit was still private. So I went back to my results and found the answer on a site that wasn’t #reddit.
I know I could have looked in Google’s cache, or that other Reddit cache called #ChatGPT. But the path of least resist was to find the info elsewhere.

There's a new Kbin server at https://readit.buzz which is run by the same people as the Universodon.com Mastodon server. It's open for signups, just click "log in" and then "register".
