Ohana: Dublin's "only" #tiki bar. Well maybe let's move those quotes -- Dublin's only "tiki" bar. It was not a good experience. They have some basic tiki decor and boast a large list of rums available. But it was just another club with a few semi-tiki inspired drinks. Watching them not be able to identify a standard bottle of rum sitting on their shelf, which I practically had to beg them to use... well, it was rough. We finished our drinks and left it to the hen party. Not recommended.
I just embarked on a new 8 day Letter theme image challenge with the end being we will spell the word #Thankful. So for day one this is my letter T image.
This is a style of #fractal art I like to do to make my #art stand out from the slew of other fractals out there. I manipulate the original images to create new exciting patterns. Just so happened this one looks like a #tiki#totem.
A neighbor was throwing away this mirror and I had to snag it! Another component of my future home #tiki bar (don't worry, I've got a theme in mind and I'll make it work)
So this trip isn't all boardgames. Tonight took us to Kon Tiki in Tucson, AZ, one of the oldest tiki bars in the US! It's certainly the oldest one that I've been to - Hala Kahiki in Chicagoland opened a few years after this one did.
Unfortunately, in order to stay open this long they've had to make some changes. Pop music on the speakers, sports on the bar TVs, and high-fruit-low-abv drinks put this in a similar category as a lot of now-classic Tiki bars. Thankfully, the decor makes up for it in spades.
