A thing I like about trail running is the camaraderie with bikers. I just met a biker going downhill, so I jumped out of the track. Even though he was in a challenging spot, he managed to say "thank you" (which in Norwegian is four words, so it takes longer).
Just browsed some weight loss photos… and “stumbled upon” some running facts…
September 21st 2021 … that’s when I had completed my couch to 5k running program.
After that I didn’t run super structured until almost a year after - August 20th 2022 - when I participated in my first trail run: SkyTrail. ~7.5K with ~400m EG. I bought those orange Scott’s for this (still have them).
Then it took off 😂 … so now here 1.5 years after it’s “normal” to run ultras 🤪. Time flies.
Rennsteiglauf checked in an md settled: arrived in Eisenach, got my bib number, did a shakeout run on the first few kilometers of the race course (uphill 9% right away 500m after the start in the town center), went to the dumpling party. #trailrunning#running#rennsteiglauf
Early trail run with a friend. Efts were out, but now they're wondering where all of the water went. Hoping next week's forecasted rain and cooler temps plays out.
En repérage cool suite aux pluies pour voir si c’est jouable de faire découvrir le coin demain matin. On ira se tremper les pieds six fois mais c’est aussi ca le #TrailRunning, non ? 🤓
This Spring has been a bit confusing on the poison plant front. Someone on strava posted photo that my phone said was wild sarsaparilla and he swore was poison ivy. They say the sarsaparilla is commonly mistaken for ivy in the Spring. I've never been that good at ID’ing poison ivy.
Monday's trail run through the woods was punctuated by me leaping over/around clumps of the stuff, whatever it was I didn't want to take a chance.
Along the rail trail today we found lots of poison ivy and when compared to the sarsaparilla it’s obviously different and distinct.
8 miles of new (to me) slippery trails in the bag. Part urban, part rural with two crossings of the motorway and a trip through IKEAs car park. I would have popped in to buy some “senap och dill sås” but I didn’t have time for another 8 miles round the store😂 #trailrunning
My morning run today, before it started pouring down 🌦️
Not the fastest pace for 16km and +600m EG, but it's only Tuesday and I didn't want to push me too hard today. Apart from the #running it's just amazing how nature almost seems to explode with life. Spring time at it's best in the mountains around where I live.
Taper 1. T-5d. Rennsteiglauf in Germany. 74km with 1874m of EG and 1386m of EL. A “classic” in Germany. 51st edition. With up to 2500 participants (and 15000 in total over all events). Taking place in the “Thüringer Wald” Mittelgebirge (most known is Oberhof for its Biathlon events during the winter). Will be cool. Though it is kind of my A-goal race I am planning to do the race to be able to enjoy it as much as possible while also racing. It is a huge festival in the area. And I don’t want to miss out the party feeling at the aid stations. Zoom in at the screenshot. Amazing number and supply. Looking forward to the beer towards the end. https://www.rennsteiglauf.de/wettkampf/strecken/supermarathon/#trailrunning#running
T-4d. Rennsteiglauf (74km/1884m of EG) trivia. Aid stations serve porridge. It is actually quite famous for this. With regards to the aid stations, I guess I will run with only one flask. And only use it at the beginning to avoid the crowds at the first station after 6.9km and then don't refill it. There are 14 aid stations. The longest distance between them being 6.7km, the shortest 2.6. They are served by local sports clubs from the villages nearby. A buffet of aid stations. https://www.thueringen-entdecken.de/en/w/rennsteiglauf-ready-steady-dumpling-#trailrunning#running
Got another DNF this weekend, I wasn’t mentally (my mind wandering everywhere) nor physically (sluggish and sleepy) in the race, got to the half and when I thought about doing the same thing for another 7:00 hours I dropped, wasn’t enjoying it at all. I think my taper was too long, I didn't like the course/organization and then other stuff/life got into my head and that was it, felt done with #Running in general. #TrailRunning#UltraRunning
Monday morning trail run had an unexpected "private land" sign half mile down one of the trails. Never fear, I've been practicing bushwhacking for years! #TrailRunning#mushrooms#salamander#bear
The cherry blossoms have passed and the lilacs are now in bloom! Beautiful sunny run today. So many birds around. This week running, I have seen four great egrets, a green heron, baby goslings with their Canadian parents, Mallard ducklings with mom, cormorants, and so many red winged blackbirds! I am enjoying the last few runs of my taper! Almost go time!
One of the largest HM in the world happened today in Göteborg. My new employer sponsors runners 👊 (signup fee, tent in the starting area with drinks, bbq, etc). Though I have my main ultra race next week I participated and took it as a training run (easy tempo pace without pushing it, definitely not race pace ). My start was at 1345 with over 30C in the sun (26C regular). 🥵😎. It was a fun event. More than 200000 spectators along the course. (Haven’t run it since 2004 (1:19 - 20 years later 20 minutes slower 🤣)). Legs felt quite fresh after it. Ran back home 🙈 (4km). Heat was noticeable on the HR. But it didn’t had an effect on my hydration needs. Took only small sips every 5K at the aid stations. 🤷♂️. Good day. #trailrunning#runninghttps://www.goteborgsvarvet.se/
Sortie vite fait histoire de voir si je pouvais m’énerver sur certaines sections. Apparemment oui 😁
Et courir sous le soleil, on aurait presque oublié ce que ça faisait. #TrailRunning#QuickGruik
