This is the gazebo located at Mountain Lake Lodge in Virginia, the famous filming location for Dirty Dancing. Mountain Lake is 1 of just 2 natural lakes in Virginia, and is currently experiencing drought conditions. The lake features small openings at the bottom that continually drain the water, resulting in periodic emptying & refilling every few centuries.

Went out to Mabry Mill today on the Blue Ridge Parkway in Virginia. Autumn colors peak around the Mill much earlier than the surrounding area. By today, many of the trees in the area had their leaves on the ground. But the reflection in the pond was superb! Last autumn, I spent the morning walking around Abbott Lake at the Peaks of Otter Lodge. The Lodge is located on the Blue Ridge Parkway in Virginia. The wind was calm and the lake was motionless, creating a perfect reflection of the fall colors.
This was my first sunrise shot of 2022 (March). During the winter months, the Blue Ridge Parkway gates are generally closed. It's always a treat for me when a gate is finally opened and the roads are plowed (or clear) in the higher elevations. This shot was from the Saddle Overlook on the Parkway in Virginia. Elevation here was 3,388 feet (1,032.6 meters).

The Appalachian Trail is a continuous marked footpath over 2,000 miles in length from Mt Katahdin in Central Maine to Springer Mt in Northern Georgia. I've met many hikers on the trail when I've been up on the mountain with my camera. No matter the season or weather, the view is always spectacular!
There are several areas of the Blue Ridge Parkway where you can pull off on an overlook and see a second view directly across the road. The views can be entirely different - different mountaintops, different cloud formations, even different weather sometimes.

A fisherman was headed back to shore shortly after sunrise. Smith Mountain Lake is in central Virginia approximately 35 miles from either Lynchburg or Roanoke. It's a popular vacation spot for people to enjoy fishing and water sports.
We were on our way back from a day trip and saw the cloud formations from the freeway. We found our way the Blue Ridge Parkway and got to the Great Valley overlook just before sunset. Glorious!
I sometimes have to race the clock to get to a particular overlook in time for sunrise on the Blue Ridge Parkway. The speed limit is 45 mph and there are deer herds out before dawn.
