Released way back in 1989, this 2-CD collection continues to be the best Jimi Hendrix compilation ever released. The 32 tracks were originally spread over three vinyl LPs in the late 70s. #JimiHendrix#CD#CompactDisc#RepriseRecords
Hi-res #AlbumArt for the #RollingStones' Emotional Rescue (1980) album. This is a fun one - Second place on their B-list, right behind Goats' Head Soup.
Sometimes, one just needs to listen to a beautiful concept album from start to finish. If that's you today, may I recommend Cloud Cult's Light Chasers?
it's "a concept album that interweaves stories focused on the exploration of the mysteries of the universe, life and death." written after the death of the son of 2 of Cloud Cult's members. ❤️ 🖤 💜 💛
Happy #NewMusic Friday! My new retro country autobiographical ballad "Son, Tell Jesus You're Straight (The Ballad of a Kid Named Ren)" is now available!
It's a song about my dad's efforts to straighten my bi-ass out over the years. Hope you enjoy!
Here's updated #AlbumArt for the #GratefulDead's Dave's Picks, Vol. 49. I'm photoshopped the covers so that each night in the box set has it's own cover.
It's a beautiful thing - a music lover and the first album they bought with their own money. Also, no one should be held accountable for their taste in music when they were thirteen.

Lawsuit Over NIRVANA's Nevermind Album Art Revived, Headed Back To Court
Spencer Elden isn't done with Nirvana yet.
If you own one #jazz record, it's probably "Kind of Blue" (1959). Second time #MilesDavis changed music, this time by putting George Russell's modal music theory up front for an entire album
"Kind of Blue" isn't just the best-selling instrumental jazz record of all time, or the one that's on every top ten list. Even though advances in music usually come across as noise, it's also one of the best for beginners.

The Story Behind the Artwork on Metallica's Debut Album 'Kill 'Em All'
Celebrating 40 years of the album's release.
The #GratefulDead put out March 2, 1969 on vinyl for #RecordStoreDay. The Alligator this night is a beast. Each night of the 2-27 - 3-02-69 run is a must-have for Deadheads, but 3-02 is my favorite. Except for when it's 2-28.
Currently listening to Mussorgsky's "A Night on the Bare Mountain" and the album art for this CD is really something. Looks like an angry birdman who has frames stuck on his wing.
It's from the Montreal Symphony Orchestra conducted by Charles Dutoit and the CD was published by Decca Music in 1987.
Made some #AlbumArt for the bonus disc to the #GratefulDead's Wake of the Flood 50th Anniversary deluxe set. Tip 'o the hat to TheBigWoods on Lossless Legs who set me up with scans of the back cover.
The 11-01-73 set is a good 'un - Morning Dew melts into Playing in the Band, which then goes most places you'd want a 1973 Playing to go.
Laid out some MAJOR MONEY (a couple of bucks more than you'd pay for a new LP) for an OOP CD of #PatMartino's Consciousness. His cover of #JoniMitchell's "Both Sides Now" hints towards what he'd do on, "We'll Be Together Again". Lots of straight, hard-bop here, but his cover of Kloss & DePaolo's Consciousness lets you know he's been listening to electric Miles Davis.
51 years ago today, the #GratefulDead played a damned good one at #BerkeleyCommunityTheater. Fall of '72 was nearly as hot as the spring tour, but it's tempting to think of each of these August shows as a lead-up to the apotheosis on 8-27-72.
Forty-nine years ago today, the #GratefulDead played a fine one at Selland Arena, Fresno CA. He's Gone ambles into a jam that accelerates until it becomes U.S. Blues. The jam out of Weather Report Suite lacks the drive and direction of the 6-18-74 free-flying WRS improv, but still goes interesting places.

45 years ago today, the #GratefulDead played #RedRocks amphitheater for the first time. Stunning venue - second only to the Gorge in George, WA for mind-melting places for a concert.
Some folks love this show. I've been an outlier. Feels a little rushed - a little shallow - especially compared to the skull-pulper they'd play the next night.
