President Emmanuel #Macron said on Sun for the first time that he backed new #EndOfLife#legislation that would allow what he called “help to die" & wanted his govt to put forward a draft bill to parliament in May.
Interest in home-based care without carer burnout is steadily increasing - especially as assisted dying options and better death literacy increase in different countries.
Q. If the #IsleofMan does (as it seems it will) legalise #assisteddying, will there need to be 'border controls' to stop those seeking this exit from popping over the water to the IoM to take advantage of its legality (thereby shielding their friends & family form police investigation)?
While this is relatively easily handled when the patient (and supporters) are heading to Zurich, its going to be a lot more difficult for the state to police if there just popping over a bit of the Irish Sea!
