Das Vortragsprogramm startet heute mit @samcarter, die die Neuigkeiten bei #TeXLaTeX#beamer vorstellt. Das Update enthält – da es ja länger keine #DANTE2024 gab – die Elemente, die zuvor auf der TUG2023 und der BayTeX2023 vorgestellt wurden. Aber auch die neuen Features, die seitem ergänzt wurden.
Ich muss definitiv noch ein paar meiner Templates entsprechend umstellen, da die Funktionen jetzt eben in beamer direkt drin sind.

@writeblankspace I too avoid ms office for libre office. Are you required to provide an editable version? Because if you can submit the pdf (landscape for a ppt, portrait for a word doc) then you can produce the pdf with open source tools for latex like miktex or emacs org mode beamer and lay it out just as you like it.

A colleague of mine brought me his broken #beamer after, according to him, it had sparked out of its ventilation slits near the power plug, when he plugged it in.
I looked at the circuitry and it became rather obvious that the transformer gave out, as the PCB was charred around it.
Been using #grapheneos for about a week now and I just have to say WOW! I don't think I've ever had an experience on my phone that feels like I'm using my #Linux desktop/laptop. The amount of control this OS gives back to me that google and apple took away is staggering. I know no piece of tech is 100% #private or #secure . But damn is this close!
Years ago I loved both #Things by #CulturedCode and #OmniFocus. But (1) #OrgMode is more featureful out of the box, and (2) task/project management and notes workflows are the quintessential customize-to-the-nth-decimal-place kinda deal. Where #Emacs shines (provided you already have Emacs skills...).
I'm recently even using Org mode (with #TeXLaTeX and #Beamer export) gradually to replace #LibreOffice for authoring class slides and notes handouts. I basically live in Org buffers.
Hmm, dear #TeXLaTeX bubble, I'm currently at my wits end when using #beamer in #LaTeX. My goal is to insert a background image (but on the first/title slide only). Further, however, the image should basically be bottom-aligned:
At last, there seems to be a tool for embedding #MovieClips into #Beamer#presentations (i.e. #PDF files) for #GNU plus #Linux systems. It’s a previewer called #pdfpc which recognizes the movie and you can start it, pause it, etc with your mouse. If your machine is attached to a second screen, it automatically displays the presentation #Fullscreen on it.
