Being left out sucks. As the people building technology, we must create solutions that are accessible and pleasantly usable for everyone.

Exciting news to share! I've officially passed the Section 508 Trusted Tester certification, marking a significant milestone in my accessibility journey, which spans over six years.
This achievement is more than just a certification for me; it's a testament to my commitment to digital inclusivity and accessibility. Over the past six years, I've dedicated myself to understanding and advocating for the needs of all users, especially those with disabilities, in the digital realm. The Section 508 Trusted Tester certification deepens my expertise and equips me with robust tools to evaluate and enhance digital accessibility.
As someone passionate about making technology accessible to everyone, this certification reinforces my resolve to ensure that accessibility is integral to digital design and development. I am eager to apply these enhanced skills to create more inclusive and user-friendly digital experiences.
A heartfelt thank you to everyone who has supported me on this journey - colleagues, mentors, and the accessibility community. Your guidance and inspiration have been pivotal in reaching this point.
I'm looking forward to continuing my work in this vital field, making a tangible difference in how we interact with technology. Let's make the digital world accessible for all!

"With 1.5 billion smart phones sold annually, it’s estimated that nearly as many are deactivated within that same time frame. The end-of-the-line for many of these outmoded smartphones is a junk drawer or a storage box in the garage. But while these devices languish out-of-sight, out-of-mind, their processors could run faultlessly for more than 10 years. That means smartphones are routinely retired after expending just 25% of their functional lifespan."

SiobhanVohn,

@zleap @shauny @gerrymcgovern I support non-profit organisations in Scotland who would love to have your old mobile phones! Anything under 8 years old is useful in work to support people in poverty.

: "In the mid-2000s, Nigerian telecom companies started offering mobile-browsing packages, and the purchase of internet-enabled mobile phones jumped. Suddenly, there was an alternative to the long queues, overstuffed rooms, lack of privacy, and risk of arrest that characterized cybercafes.

More than half of Nigerians use the internet, but only 30% of them own a personal computer, and data can still be prohibitively expensive. That means there’s still a market for internet cafes among low-income families and those who need to print paperwork."
