Of all the things I may have been expecting to see on a #DJImini3pro's SD card, a fucking SRT file (SubRip, it's a subtitle format) was quite possibly the last. What I most definitely was not expecting to see even with that, was a 30Hz telemetry feed showing position and camera information. Why is this in a fucking subtitle?!?!
Wondering why #drones have transmission distances of tens of kilometers when (FAA, at least) regs don't (generally) allow them to leave your line of sight.
Like, even if you can literally see that far because you're on a hilltop, the drone itself surely gets too small to see REAL quick-like?
Is this one of those things where tech has outstripped legislation, and it really is “if you could zoom in and see it, it's still technically LOS”?
Anyway, the DJI Mini 4 Pro looks really spiffy (esp with the omnidirectional collision avoidance sensors), but part of me says it's a wiser investment to just get the Mini 2 SE – I could total one of the latter, buy a brand new replacement, and /still/ have spent slightly less than the cost of a single 4 Pro.
(Counterpoint: you could then just keep going through a whole lot of barely-any-sensors 2 SE’s…or have one, largely crashproof, 4 Pro…)
i dont get it... i wanted to fly two waypoint tracks with the #dji#mini4pro at the vineyard.
track 1: it tried to go for pos1 between the plants until it reached the minimum flight height and stopped. for some reason it saved my attempts to update the waypoint so its trash now
track 2: it started relatively lowish and kept stopping the flight due to obstacles... nothing was there. later i changed my position and started about where i did last time on the hill. this time just just worked?!
Heute war hier recht schönes Wetter, die Kinder in Kita und Ferienbetreuung und die neuen Saiten noch nicht da. Also bin ich mal wieder raus für eine Stunde und habe die Drohne fliegen lassen. Der Spotlight Modus ist für mich als Anfänger recht gut, weil das Motiv zentriert bleibt, während man Flugmanöver ausführt.

lifehack with the #mini4pro – as the thing keeps embarassing on events due to not wanting to land as it tends to sense too many obstacles, switching to sport mode seems to make the drone actually ignore them, so it can safely land into your hand.

Heute war das Wetter in HH mal wieder schön uin die Kids on tour. So konnte ich in Ruhe mit der Mini 3 pro ein bisschen fliegen.
Ich muss das noch ganz schön üben, Aufnahmen eigener Flugmanöver sehen eher so la la bis mies aus. Aber es its ja noch kein Meister vom Himmel gefallen und die Drohne kann ja auch von sich aus ein paar nette Shots. 😁
nachdem die amazon refurbished mini3pro einen protenziellen sturzschaden und bei langzeit kundenauftrag immer schlimmeren puddingeffekt bei video hatte, hab ich die last minute zurückgegeben statt weiter zu debuggen (war fast neupreis!) und jetzt direkt beim hersteller eine nicht ganz rationale entscheidung getroffen … welcome home #drone#mini4pro
so, die preisfrage jetzt ist: hat die 4 pro die gleichen artefakt probleme bei feinen details im 48p modus wie die 3 (pro)? die testfotos eben sahen ok aus aber die bedingungen für die probleme waren noch nicht ... ideal.
ich frage mich ob ich beim vorgänder die fixe 48p einstellung übersehen hatte und daher der modus für single shot verfügbar war oder ob das hier jetzt anders ist... ich muss morgen nochmal ausführlich testen.
auch geil: waypoints! das hätte ich bei dem auftrag gebraucht.* #dji

En Normandie la pluie limite parfois les possibilités de vol, mais c'est plaisant d'avoir des points de vue inédits de notre environnement.
Another photo taken this year with the drone. This was in April and there was some afternoon rain creating a gorgeous rainbow over the historic Lahaina town. This is quite the difference from what I saw yesterday 😭
The destroyed Lahainaluna neighborhood. This was a working-class area filled with residents who worked in Lahaina and kept things running all over the West side. Many of these homes had extra units on the plots to house extended family members.
Please understand that one home lost does not displace only one small family in most cases. It is common for homes in these types of neighborhoods to house multiple generations amplifying the devastation.
"St. Michael of the Rocks" ist eine Kirche, die auf einem ehemaligen Vulkan und damit einem recht alleine stehenden ... hm ... Berg/Hügel steht und damit recht auffällig über der Landschaft des Dartmoors trohnt. Da das Licht so einzigartige Kontraste erzeugt hat hab ich nach etwas Zögern dann doch die Drohne ausgepackt, auch wenn ich mir nicht wirklich sicher war, ob ich das dort überhaupt darf. Aber bei so einem Motiv und so einem Licht konnte ich am Ende einfach nicht widerstehen...
Das Bild ist zu einem HDR-Panorama zusammengefügt aus 4 Bildern zu je 5 Bellichtungsstufen.
