The Yayoi Period (弥生時代), which featured an influx of Asian mainlanders with agricultural and metalworking technology, until recently had been estimated as around 300 BC to 300 AD. But the Yayoi civilization in this park (安満遺跡) goes back 2,500 years, and the region also has remnants from the earlier Jōmon Period (縄文時代) New Stone Age culture.
The photos show the characteristic care and pride with which ancient artifacts are regarded in Japan. The illustration in the first photo is especially striking to me. Bronze dōtaku bells from over 2,000 years ago had no practical use, so we can assume that they were used in religious rituals.
