PPL STILL foolishly supporting Israel govt - you're either completely heartless or too brain numb to recognize that the only thing Israel is doing now is creating a TON more hatred for them. This is actually OVERDUE hatred towards Israel govt. They are murderers. Genocidal agents. Not people you should ever put on a pedestal, unless you're an supporter. Seriously, & .

Stop supporting ppl who are perpetuating FROM ISRAEL.

An important piece of context for the current escalation of conflict in that I've rarely seen mentioned in mainstream reporting concerns the , a series of large (and largely peaceful) weekly protests in near the border fence that were sustained through most of and , and which were met with enormous amounts of sustained lethal violence by the armed forces. The each Friday were attended by crowds ranging in size from 10,000 to 50,000, many of them children and teens (more than 50% of Gaza's population is under the age of 18). Participants were regularly targeted by Israeli Defence Force (IDF) snipers using a combination of live ammunition, rubber bullets and tear gas canisters (the latter typically fired directly at protesters), and even some tank rounds. Over time, hundreds of were killed and many thousands seriously wounded.

The original idea for the demonstration was for hundreds of thousands of unarmed Palestinians to peacefully walk up to the fence, take down a section, then cross a few kilometres into the land beyond, where they would set up a temporary tent city.

The , as the idea was labelled, was to symbolise the ’ desire to return to the homes and villages from which they (or their parents/grandparents) had been violently driven seventy years ago. Indeed, some 75% of those who now live in are recognised by the as refugees or their descendants, people displaced by the violent of the late 1940s that accompanied the foundation of the state of (a catastrophe known to Palestinians as the , or 'Catastrophe'). The right of Palestinian refugees who wished to return and live at peace with their neighbours has been affirmed in multiple UN resolutions over the decades (beginning back in ), yet Israel’s government has refused every attempt towards it, saying that it threatens Israel as a Jewish .

Regarding Palestine and Israel, beginning to think that even a two state solution will never work. Isrelis appear to want all Palestinians gone and Palestinians seem to believe that US and Israel would never allow peaceful borders.
In fact only way it would work is a 3 state solution of Gaza plus parts of South Israel and Sinai, Isreal, and a Palestinean state that stretches from the Golan Heights to the current West bank (about 200 km wide strip).
All would have to be enforced by 100k UN soldiers who faced both ways.

@nilsskirnir This is why some say the only just path forward is a more radical one: the solution. That is, everyone who lives in Israel-Palestine is to become an equal citizen with an equal vote and equal rights in a state with a unitary parliamentary authority (i.e. more-or-less the current status quo, but with apartheid dismantled).

The reason that is considered off-the-table is that Israel has always made it very clear that its commitment is first and foremost to a Jewish and only secondarily to anything approximating . And the one-state approach would mean Jews would become a minority.

The even more radical approach is the no-state solution...

For now at least, anyone who isn't a white cisgender Christian will have to suffer from the depravation of essential rights.
