FRIDAY THE 13TH PART 3 is the movie that created the hockey mask legacy. This film was shot with 3D in mind. While those moments definitely stand out, they never bothered me. I love the JAWS rip-off moment. Shelly finding the mask in the lake feels like such an organic moment. This is the film that really starts laying the groundwork. It still works today. Also, the harpoon kill is awesome.

THE EVIL DEAD is probably one of my absolute favorites. While I do give the edge to 2, it’s only because I enjoy the humor. This movie was a landmark in horror. It was a cutting edge film for 83 that still looks great today. The film feels just as unhinged and chaotic as the first time I watched it.

They should really give more well-thought out titles to media documentary films.

Like, instead of "The 50 Best Horror Movies You've Never Seen"...

... they could give it a title like "The 50 Best Horror Movies You Might Not Have Seen Unless You Already Have Seen Them Which Is Cool, Too, But Hey, Do You Wanna Talk about Movies Because I Wanna Talk about Movies".

A bit wordy, I confess, but it gets the job done.

DEATH LINE had way more star power then I was anticipating. Donald Pleasance & Christoper Lee were awesome. I also feel like the opening credits were designed with acid in mind. What is with their weird synthpop soundtrack? Some of the shots hang on too long. It’s not very good at suspense. There is some reasonable gore. I was not expecting to be such a polished attempt at a horror picture.

Ma de ce soir : The President's Last Bang ("Geuddae geusaramdeul", 2005). Un film coréen de Im Sang-Soo, basé sur l'histoire vraie de l'assassinat du président Park Chunghee.

Hormis ça, je ne sais pas du tout à quoi m'attendre. On verra.

THE AMITYVILLE HORROR is truly a cinematic experience. I loved the series of quick cuts and splicing. The film does a great job of keeping you on your toes. The score is a fairytale nightmare. It’s a classic movie that leans heavily into suspense. While it might be based on a sham, it’s an awesome movie.

DEMON HOUSE gets a bad rap. The opening montage is one of the bleakest and oppressive things I’ve seen in sometime. It’s an emotionally draining picture that just keeps getting worse. This is slow boil horror at its finest. It’s chock full of dread. I was holding my breath for a significant amount of this movie. It is definitely worth a watch.

I seem to remember that there used to be an online tool where you could put in two IMDB profiles and it would connect them through various degrees of separation. Did I make that up, or is it a thing?

"Just remember what ol’ Jack Burton does when the earth quakes, and the poison arrows fall from the sky, and the pillars of Heaven shake. Yeah, Jack Burton just looks that big ol’ storm right square in the eye and he says, “Give me your best shot, pal. I can take it."

SLEEPAWAY CAMP has some awesome practical effects. It’s another cast full of douchebags and that makes the killing so satisfying. The deaths are creative and unique. This is one of the rare 80s slashers that tried to get inventive and not follow the usual format. And holy shit. That ending.

GRADUATION DAY is my first introduction to serial killer jogging. I’ve never seen a coach who gets so upset about pictures. This movie is so unashamed of its awful. Everyone should watch this brazen darling of a slasher gone horribly wrong. The kill scenes aren’t bad. Why do so many slashers have musics videos built in?
