Is “Bubblehouse” by Medeski, Martin, and Wood an example of what Xenakis called “non retrogradable rhythm”? In this essay, I will #music#mmw#nonretrogradablerhythm
#NowPlaying finally home to spin the haul of records I saved for Xmas. Leading off, one of my all-time favorite albums first released on vinyl in 2023: MEDESKI MARTIN & WOOD - SHACK-MAN (Real Gone Music; originally on CD, Gramavision, 1996). The volume is awfully quiet due to 54 min of music being crammed onto 2 sides, but it sounds ok with the stereo cranked up. I'm just glad to have it on #vinyl. Thanks Santa! #MMW#jazz#groove@vinylrecords
I am excited to announce that Pandora's Tale Wiki will be participating in Indie Wiki Jam, organized by @tacopill and others.
What is it? It's a two-week event in which everymany is encouraged to edit independent wikis that you haven't edited before, taking place from January 12-26. Here's the main site https://indiewikijam.com/
Five wikis have been announced as participants so far, though there is still time for other wikis to apply. We're one of the participating wikis!
Yeah, aside from us, all of the wikis involved are about video games. That might change before the jam actually starts, as there is still time for other wikis to join.
#NowPIaying one of my most prized physical media, Medeski Martin & Wood - Reduxolarians LP, from Radiolarians: The Evolutionary Set (Indirecto, 2009). Captures the raw essence of a mature MMW at the peak of their powers. Illustrations by zoologist, naturalist, artist, and early evolutionist Ernst Haeckel (The Radiolarian Atlas, 1862). #mmw#jazz#groove@vinylrecords
@drummmerandy@mrcompletely@justinbruce ...They also talked about #mmw forging their own path touring in the US (vs. Europe), Medeski adopting portable analog instruments, the HI shack, Scofield reaching out via fan hotline, etc.
