Rot Stink Rip
As another vintage year for death metal grinds inexorably forward, the absurd number of top-quality releases shows no sign of slowing. Even so, TOMBSTONER immediately stand out. Those familiar with the band's "Descent to Madness" EP and "Victims of Vile Torture" debut album will be drooling at the t...
I was reminded of some old studies by Toukhsati and Rickard on how rhythms can facilitate learning in young chickens, which have been mostly ignored over the years, probably because they were ahead of their time.
But they seem especially relevant to those of us in music cognition who are increasingly interested in the neural mechanism of rhythm, beat, meter, and groove in both humans and non-human animals. Not to mention the health and education applications of music!

"It's like a song from a parallel universe!" The funkiest, grooviest Korn remix ever just dropped, and it's got a classic Black Sabbath solo stitched in
Ignore all that Blue Monday nonsense, and get your groove on with this fiercely infectious new Korn mash-up
#NowPlaying finally home to spin the haul of records I saved for Xmas. Leading off, one of my all-time favorite albums first released on vinyl in 2023: MEDESKI MARTIN & WOOD - SHACK-MAN (Real Gone Music; originally on CD, Gramavision, 1996). The volume is awfully quiet due to 54 min of music being crammed onto 2 sides, but it sounds ok with the stereo cranked up. I'm just glad to have it on #vinyl. Thanks Santa! #MMW#jazz#groove@vinylrecords
This time of the year I'm usually dead till the solstice, but this groove crawled into the cave and woke me up already. Now I'm stretching and blinking like a disoriented bear, but it's all right. Maybe it will do something for you too.
#NowPIaying one of my most prized physical media, Medeski Martin & Wood - Reduxolarians LP, from Radiolarians: The Evolutionary Set (Indirecto, 2009). Captures the raw essence of a mature MMW at the peak of their powers. Illustrations by zoologist, naturalist, artist, and early evolutionist Ernst Haeckel (The Radiolarian Atlas, 1862). #mmw#jazz#groove@vinylrecords
#Jamulus track called 'The Ping is the Thing' which, when you're relying on having good ping between musicians to do absolutely anything, seems rather fitting.
You may purchase the album digitally from our website releases page, linked below.
Most importantly, just rock out to this #groove#metal magnum opus of ours. The recording process damn near literally killed Jessica and we want to know if it was worth it.
Seemingly a critique on religion, the true nature of Salvation is far more insidious and personal for Jessica.
Tonight: Stop 1:: Daniel Villarreal is a freakin groove merchant. More people should be talking about this funky awesomeness. The Chicago drummer and his band laying it down at Public Records on a Wednesday night.
Anyone check out the new album "Volcano" by #Jungle?
I love that they've successfully mixed a lot of different flavors of dance music while still retaining their soulful ‘chill' #summer vibes. Feels like a new direction for the group (especially with all the featured artists' verses), but also a nice evolution of their style.
