Been actually properly watching GaoGaiGar while doing exercise bike cardio lately and I fucking love this show, you’ll have the Leader and the Science Guy discussing this astounding new weapon that may be too powerful for GaoGaiGar to wield without great peril and it’s literally a mecha-scale squeaky hammer.
I've been rewatching #Patlabor and I've come to realize that it's not really that well known. It's truly a unique mix: a hard sci-fi take on giant robots, gorgeous animation, lighthearted humor but also social critique, and a diverse and relatable set of characters, including several female ones that are neither stereotyped nor objectified. 🧵 1/10 #anime#retroanime#scifi
Hello everyone, this is my #introduction. I'm a 30 something software/tech worker. Pixel art and 1980s animation are my comfort foods and VHS tapes and synth pop are always on the menu. I'm an anime enjoyer and a retro gamer. I'm hoping to meet some cool people, so I'm going to be actively posting instead of lurking.
Also, I've been studying Japanese for a while but it's a struggle.
In a bygone era, anime came on things called "VHS tapes." They were big and chunky, and cost $20-$40 for 2-4 episodes... dubbed or subbed. They were also a wonderland for trailers and other video treats, as Anthony Gramuglia explores
If things go well, I'll be able to post something really neat tomorrow!
In the meantime, have a related video to it -- my own fan edit of Battle Beast's "Russian Roulette" to a "TV Size" version, and syncing it with the visuals for "Russian Roulette" from Dirty Pair.
I still hope one day to get a cleaner version of the animation but I still am proud of this! First "AMV" that's not really an AMV lol
So, this can't be right. Samantha has a new article... and it's not a con write-up.
Anyway! She goes deep into US fandom history, with a new article that explores the earliest days of fandom and one of the first anime zines, Fanta's Zine.
