Good evening, Shop. Past my bedtime, but the Mastodon Mothership gang has made a discovery of a very poorly behaved server out there.

Contentnation dot net appears to be scraping(? not sure if that's the technically correct term for this) profiles, and their associated followers and posts, and replicating them on their own service giving the appearance that Fediverse accounts are presenting themselves via CN's own services.

@trixter @Konghammer at this point I think that anyone going on about “free speech” just isn’t paying attention. Freedom of speech means that the government can’t come after people. It doesn’t mean that people can’t be shunned for their bigoted views.

@SirTapTap I wonder what the etiquette is on creating a hack of a hack? Like, could someone just create a “girl mode” sprite swap of an existing game hack?

I’ve never heard of such a thing being done, and I can’t think of an argument against it that would hold water, but I’m not close to the modding community at all.

@heyfluxay I played it online with friends and it was a fun game with serious issues syncing the online gameplay. We had issues with the game getting bugged in the middle of a level. Maybe it’s been fixed since then (I would hope). It’s probably a great game for local play.

@heyfluxay I’ll have to lasso the boys into playing again and see if it is actually working now. It’s crazy because we were consistently have game breaking issues but nobody else online was talking about it. We have never had issues playing any other game online.

Okay, having now heard this album in CD, I regret buying it.

Oh, it’s a good album. The problem is the mastering. They’re trying to make this sound like a cheap analog recording, made on tape. But this was clearly not made on tape—and it shows.

Listen, if you’re going to make a digital recording, just own it. Don’t pretend it’s something it’s not.

@atomicpoet A lot of the CDs that I had from 80's artists sounded pristine. They were mixed with a lot of dynamic range and so you could turn the volume up and hear all the details.

All of that seemed to go away when the loudness wars broke out in the 90s 😧

@kissane This article is wonderful. Great to contemplate on a cloudy Friday afternoon. I do think it might be hard to reconcile not giving a fuck about work for careers such as teachers or journalists where they are very much there because they do care.

With that being said, I work in software so that’s not something that I should personally worry about :)

I’m creating a new bugfix branch in BitBucket and I noticed the auto-generated branch name should end in “button” but has been shortened to “butto” due to character length.
