The #Australia government is not a household or a business, they are the monopoly issuer of our #currency.
Any #surplus they achieve is necessarily money they could have spent on things we need, but chose not to. That's bad.
Do we want a government that taxes more money than they spend?
I don't. I want a government that identifies what needs doing, and spends whatever money required to achieve that.
And taxes based on which parties or activities should not have as much money as they extracted from the economy. Not a fiction of taxation "to spend on" something else.
The federal government should not have a "balanced #budget", they don't have any need to "find the money" anywhere, they issue as much #AustralianDollar as they choose to at any time.
That's what a federal spending bill does: The money now exists. It didn't "come from" anywhere. Stop waiting for taxation!
What uses would there be for 7638MHz and 7554MHz DRO oscillators?
Not phase locked, so not super stable, don't multiply immediately to any interesting bands either, so not that usable as a marker either.
And these have a negative supply voltage.
Shiny silvered brass from 1975.
A 2GHz local oscillator from some old 4GHz link transmitter.
Not a single circuit board in this unit. #GHz#surplus#junk#hamradio
Welp! I spoke too soon on that printer. My offer was rejected. I only asked 13$ under asking price. Oh well patience grasshopper. I realized I need a machine dedicated to being a server. Sharing a desktop and a server is not very smart so I priced out a Broadwell Xeon-e5-2699-v3 based build with a 2TB SSD and cheesy graphics card for 653$ total. That will give me 18 cores and 36 threads of raw power with 128GB of RAM and a 2TB SSD to get me stated. Upshot I won't need heat for my apartment this winter
I'm torn between running xcp-ng and Proxmox. Proxmox is practically turn key because my images are builtin libvirt and would migrate easily. But xcp-ng is closer to what is used in enterprise. I'm torn. Anyone care to weigh in?
If you were going enterprise, you'd already have a shitton of licenses for #ESXi on a #VxRail but then again I've also seen #Proxmox in enterprise...
If you don't have absurdly cheap electricity and a high tolerance for noise, consider getting some #surplus#MiniDesktops or #ThinClients... They are much cheaper and quieter...

"Some people are users of #ai but the majority of the population is the subject of AI... This is not a matter of individual choice. Most of the ways that AI interpolates our life makes determinations that shape our access to resources to opportunity are made behind the scenes in ways we probably don’t even know."
It's so common it's as if there were an underlying ideology behind it, driving such behavior and being supported by laws & norms.

It's not hard to miss this when it's your first rodeo paying attention (aka younger quartiles). However, having been in several successive iterations of this cycle and heard the same specific, narrow complaint focus aimed at other #evolution-driven innovation that came & went, you can imagine that watching people bump around the perimeter of the problem again, while ignoring the causal upstream sources in the #system is a growing frustration.
The #media plays the same role, whether it's describing the Wall St narrative excuse for the latest boom & bust, or telling us what the latest economic, #political, or cultural #fear de jour we should be consumed by.
The same natural laws that make #disinformation impossible to contain & counter with corrections also work to ensure that any scheme for "redistribution" of #surplus in an organization will meet the same fate.
All complex adaptive systems will go through a phase change & irreversible structural #reorg when internal imbalances exceed the requirements for a pareto-optimal type harmony.
If the enemy brings tanks to your infantry battle, you had better change tactics -which will now include tanks, btw.
