What's in a name? Had to laugh when a friend shared this. Reminds of the time when I lived in the fancy schmancy condo, "Establishment Bangsar". Except that it is in Brickfields and on the "wrong" side of Bangsar.
A pleb walks the manicured gardens of the Eastern & Oriental...
I have tried many times to convince my parents to have a stay here, but they cannot compute spending more that RM200 to sleep in a place. That and, according to my dad: "For sure haunted one."
Kalau nak jadi PM #Malaysia mesti buat stint kat penjara ok. Dulu atau kemudian, doesn't matter, as long as you stay there. Sekejap ok, lama ada lebih cred.
Kalau sanggup, boleh sign on dan buat promosi untuk GE16.
Americans are understandably excited about the #TrumpIndictment
Just want to say that in #Malaysia, we have prime ministers who ARE in prison, WERE in prison or HEADING to prison.
You can say that we're highly experienced in the field of sending our leaders to jail.
The best kind of room is the room where they upgrade you to the sea view 😍
This is a solid hotel, something I always go back to each time I am in Penang. Great service, quiet (rooms are relatively sound proofed), central location and recently renovated - Cititel Penang Hotel.
So I can't join #30DaysOfBiking as my trusty folding bike is back home in Selangor and I'm in #Penang, but I'm happy to see these bikes at Gurney Drive.
As a #Malaysian however, I'd say you'd be pretty bonkers to bike down Gurney Dr though.
Use it to explore the inner roads instead, but you don't get to see the sea. Not that you can see much of it these days at Gurney 🙃
Cafe hopping is absolutely a thing in #Georgetown
Glad that the historic old shophouses are being put to use and appreciated.
Currently trying to write a video script for my next #Obsidian video.
“Sistem ini memang fucked up
Tapi itu bukan alasan untuk kita ikut korup
Jalurmu takkan gemilang
Selagi ketuanan bangsa yang kau julang”
Translation:
“This system is indeed fucked up
But we have no excuse to be corrupt
As long as racial supremacy is your guide,
Malaysia's flag will never reach its true pride.”
Friend insists this is the best dry pan mee in town. Pretty sure it is.
She says the shop serves "gunpowder chilli", though she is not sure if its cos it is bloody hot or because someone was shot in front of the store before. (Yes, it happened. I mean, it is Chow Kit lol)
I like nerding with notes, languages, philosophy, reading non-fic, #solarpunk, #Dimension20, exploring non-d&d #rpg systems, waterfalls, poems, playlists, #cats. I have an admin job that inspires me to pay attention to intersections of #tech, #climate, #gender, & #rights in the #globalSouth.
I really enjoy this Youtuber's videos of #Malaysia - he asks locals and long-time expats what living in Malaysia is like. Fascinating insights from them, somethings that I never thought of. Like, what do you not talk about when in Malaysia.
Answer from Aussie expat:
Royalty
Race
Religion
Bwahaha 100% spot on.
I also like what he said about our "multi-lingual reality".
PS: That Aussie's accent has turned Malaysian hahaha.
Watching travelogs of tourists visiting Kuala Lumpur and can't help but be amused by some of their reactions. "OMG this is like New York!", "This doesn't feel like South East Asia", "It's so clean!"
Makes me wonder what they were expecting - tree houses and mud huts, I suppose?
Yes, Kuala Lumpur is one of the most modern cities in SEA, but not all our cities are like that, granted.
Presenting… An Incomplete Map of the Neverending Malls of KL 😵💫
It’s my farewell gift to Kuala Lumpur, where I spent the better part of winter this year 🎁
Check out the website version, which allows you to pan and zoom… and includes a log of which malls have McDonalds, Starbucks, Mr DIY and Chicken Rice shops 🫣.
