Mohd Amal M Razalan entered his guilty plea as he was about to be tried for 46 #bribery and money laundering charges before Sessions Judge Anita Harun.
Something that I really makes me feel good is listening to #podcasts
And in the spirit of sharing things that I enjoy, here’s a thread 🧵 with my current favourites, complete with notes on topics covered and why I like them.
The list is presented in no particular order (as I personally dislike rankings), but I must admit that my absolute favourite #podcaster is journalist, debunker and “Methodology Queen” Michael Hobbes, who appears to be on Mastodon as @rottenindenmark - anything he (co)hosts is a must listen for me!
Ready for some #AntiCapitalist#Economics? Then the Upstream Podcast is what you need. Hosts Della Duncan and Robert Ramin Raymond lead conversations / interviews with brilliant hosts. They also release quarterly #Documentaries in podcast form. The core idea is that we need to go #Upstream to discover and address root causes rather than treating symptoms of our broken economy. Apart from the contents, I appreciate the care with which sound effects and songs are woven into each episode.
I had missed this line from RedHat's post about limiting access to the #RHEL sources:
> Simply rebuilding code, without adding value or changing it in any way, represents a real threat to open source companies everywhere
Yeah, that's exactly what corporations have been doing with hundreds of #FOSS projects for decades. Extracting money from code they contributed nothing to. But I guess when they do it against independent developers that doesn't count, does it?
@gabrielesvelto Red Hat is paying software engineers to fix and contribute code to #upstream. "Upstream first" is our internal motto. I don't think this is fair comparison.
I'm finding the "outrage" about #RHELs change of subscription terms very weird. Open source development happens in the #upstream repos and the only people that really care about the source for downstream binaries are those with the binaries. #redhat's limiting of RHEL clones does make it slightly harder for projects to ensure #ci loops run on those distros. However Red Hat are big enough to take on those responsibilities in house and report back when regressions happen.
Our next #Stockholm#Python meetup will be on 7th, from 5:30pm in the #SUNET office. We will sit down and learn how to build #CPython itself. Hoping to get more people excited about contributing to the language itself.
TLDR: open is not just a software thing; it’s a collaboration technique that gets used in the real world—including in moments of crisis, and in preparation for crisis.
"A 100% virtual, completely free event bringing together like-minded application developers, open source project maintainers, and the extended network of people who care most about their work."
"How do we fix the accidental supply chain that open source has become in a way that benefits both the open source creators and the organizations that rely on their work?"
