A big and happy birthday wish to @7php, the legend of the community. I know he exists, because I met him! Have a wonderful day!

7php,

@Skoop WOW!! Thank YOU SOOO MUCH Stefan! Really means a lot to me.

This wish is really really special at all levels + you are the only person who wished me in the whole network ๐Ÿ˜

Thank you for always remembering me.

And btw, at the start of the year, I was using your ingewikkeld branded notebook, I was telling my wife how soft and comfy the hard cover was, it's a delight using them for my notes and holding it in my hands.

I really don't know how the last 3 months swept by me. It's already December. And I'm late to publish my podcast.

Apologise to my interviewees. We'll get this started asap.

๐ŸŽ™๏ธ Just wrapped up an inspiring podcast episode with @shochdoerfer (Stephan Hochdรถrfer) co-founder of BitExpert.

For over 20 years, Stephan has been a driving force in the PHP community - his passion and resilience are nothing short of awe-inspiring.

I feel privileged to have had this session with him.๐Ÿ––

Listening to him, itโ€™s clear that Stephan embodies what it means to be both a technical wizard and an extraordinary leader.

Stay tuned for the episode release! ๐Ÿ˜๐ŸŒŸ

7php,

@elazar It's indeed hard "to figuring out why people behave like they do".

And she used "tribe" in the right way there.
(Tribe != community)

Was a good quick read, thanks for sharing.

We are taking the @phparch php[podcast] live on YouTube right now. Come join us: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l8Cg8qQgx5Q&ab_channel=php%5Barchitect%5D

7php,

@john @phparch Hey guys, your newsletter of last week (dated Thu, Aug 31) had some PHP errors in it.

Thought you might want to check on that. Had no quick means to reach out, here was quick.

For reference, mail title was: August issue release: Packing Up PHP

Errors:

Warning: Undefined array key "id_token" in /Users/jcongdon/repos/PHPArch/archie/app/archie.php on line 119
Warning: Undefined array key โ€œid_tokenโ€ in /Users/jcongdon/repos/PHPArch/archie/app/archie.php on line 119

7php,

@john @phparch Sure thing John, cheers.

Following someone on the Fediverse is broken โ€” the user-experience (UX) is not good.

Especially if the person you want to follow is on a server different from yours.

Sure it technically works, BUT in practice it is broken โ€”

I have done user testing with people who have used other social-media, but who have never used the Fediverse

Virtually all of them fail at following someone on a remote server

THIS IS SOMETHING WE NEED TO COLLECTIVELY FIX.

I'll explain โ€”

๐Ÿงต

7php,

@reiver I agree. I'm fairly new here and already experienced the pain-point you are mentioning

OH: "Proer tip"

Tells you all you need to know about the ego of that person. ๐Ÿคช

It's great to have so much diverse minds around though, makes the place whole lot more exciting, challenging and hopeful. Aye!

Have a great end of week fam! ๐Ÿ–– :elephpant_rainbow:

7php,

@kboyd Exactly kind Sir!

Your example shows that it's all about the tone and intent behind sharing advice.

A 'Pro Tip' can be useful, humorous or even uplifting - depending on how it's conveyed.

Tips like yours enrich conversations and provide value.

It's not the 'tip' but the tone that can reveal much about someone's ego or intent.

Thanks for adding a constructive angle to this discussion! I appreciate you! :elephpant_rainbow:

Wishing you a fantastic end to your week! Aye! ๐Ÿ––๐ŸŒˆ

Picture of three pieces of wood. Notches cut out of each one to allow them to fit together.

My first in-person conference presentation since before the pandemic started will be this November at @longhorn! I am so looking forward to this.

I'll be talking on "Serializing ", both the options in core (with some surprises) and the tool suite I built for https://github.com/Crell/Serde to do advanced (de)serialization.

Come on down and say hello!

7php,

@Crell @longhorn I won't be there, saying hello now itself! LOL

Hope there would be some recordings, looking forward to the slides.

All the best Larry!

Hi! I'm Asko, a software engineer from Estonia, where I live with my wife and dog. I make a living writing , and maintain a variety of software.

Having done web dev for about 12 years now, I've gotten tired of it and have been looking for a change. I've found Apple app development enjoyable and thus recently I've started slowly transitioning to and , and my hope is to land a paying gig with it at some point.

Looking to meet other builders :)

7php,

@askonomm how's the transition treating you so far?

It's positive to see others making this kind of transition and owning their destiny! Nice!

7php,

@askonomm Yes indeed, I had that thought regarding the job situation. Thanks for sharing how it felt.

Btw, nice UI and decent app there.

I think it's a good time to head back into PHP, specially Laravel-based stuffs seem in good demand.

I 100% feel you there about the need for more freedom in your life. That's key for the long-term.

Cheers Asko, have a good weekend ahead.
