I don't think people are realising the danger the Fediverse is in.

The only thing stopping corporations and VCs taking over this place is that the Fediverse is spread out on many different servers, which makes it very difficult to purchase.

If most of the Fediverse ends up on mastodon.social, which is now a strong possibility, there will be nothing to stop most of it being sold to Musk or Zuckerberg or whoever.

The bigger mastodon.social becomes, the more likely a buyout is to happen.

@feditips For now, I'm mostly on mastodon.social for the "explore" feature, which is often empty on smaller instances. I did get an account on a different server though and I think I will move at some point in the future.

@ApisNecros There are some books by author, i.e. the works of Pindar or Anakreon but they're not just myths. There are some collections of Ovid's myths, which are Roman but the best well-known for various reasons. There are some translations of the Iliad and the Odyssey, the latter most recently by Emily Wilson. There are the ancient plays like the Oresteia, which you can find online in various translations. What interests you the most? ❤️

One experience I refuse to replicate from Shitter is the swarm of pick-me "movie blogger" accts run by tonedeaf, obnoxious diehards rehashing promo material of notably abusive studios like Disney/Marvel.

Literally nobody asked for it. It just poisons fandoms & amplifies overhyped cishet white men who get paid to grossly misrepresent/fetishize queer identity & then gaslight the community.

@Maleficurious I'm at the point where I refuse to (knowingly) give money to Disney. What makes me sad is that there are independent creators who draw / write and sometimes even film the things people claim they want to see but Disney and other major studios get praised for a single line of dialogue. Support independent creators!
