We have suspended peertube.biz and comics.peertube.biz today. After receiving a report about one of their users, we took a look at the instances and found them hosting neonazi content all the way up to reuploads of Trump staffers' videos, as well as racist, queerphobic, and antifeminist content.

After the despicable message from one of tooters.org 's admin, asking, in short, to choose a "side", we decided to follow his advice and we will defederate with tooters.org in one week.

This admin decided to help well-known haters, and we want to protect the community, alongside the people he seems to despise.

We allow this delay only to let you ask your contacts to change instance, before all links are cut.

Tooters.org will be limited during this week.

Après le message inacceptable de l'un des admin de tooters.org, demandant (version courte), de choisir un "camp", nous avons décidé de suivre son conseil et nous allons défédérer entièrement avec tooters.org dans une semaine (lundi 22 avril).

Cet admin a décidé de soutenir des haineux pourtant bien connus, et nous décidons de protéger notre communauté, tout en apportant notre soutien aux personnes qu'il semble vouloir rejeter.

Nous mettons ce délai en place uniquement pour vous permettre de contacter les personnes avec qui vous partagez sur tooters.org que les liens seront bientôt entièrement rompus (en tout cas s'iels ne changent pas d'instance).

Pendant cette semaine, tooters.org sera limité.

We have limited ieji.de today after learning that its moderators have repeatedly failed to act on reports of transphobia, racism, and misinformation. Several reports were forwarded from us that were entirely without consequences; one such user continued to harass others and post nazi dogwhistles after receiving a warning from a moderator that was not followed up on. Even public complaints only resulted in a limit.

Barring any improvements in moderation, we will defederate from ieji.de in two weeks (Monday April 15, 2024). At that point, all of our users who follow someone on ieji.de (and vice versa) will be unable to do so.

L'équipe de modération a décidé de limiter ieji.de , après que leur modération a échoué à traiter des signalements de transphobie, de racisme et de désinformation. Plusieurs signalements n'ont été suivis d'aucun effet, un compte signalé a pu continuer son harcèlement et de poster des "dogwhistles" nazis malgré un avertissement… sans qu'il n'y ait de conséquences. Même les alertes publiques n'ont conduit, au mieux, qu'à des limitations.

Sans une amélioration substantielle de la modération, nous défédérerons avec ieji.de dans 2 semaines (lundi 15 avril 2024). À cette date, toutes les connexions entre nos utilisateurices et les leurs seront rompues.

We just suspended social.cutefunny.net.

The instance came to our attention due to spam originating from it (the currently widespread "kuroneko organisation" spam bots), but we found the instance advertises itself as refusing to moderate racism, anti-queer harassment, and "cyberbullying won't lead to a suspension".

We have seen several reports, on-site and across the fedi, about a mass mention and advertising spam wave coming from several instances. We have suspended multiple accounts and defederated one instance so far, but if you want to help us stay on top of this, please report any further spam bots you see.

We will temporarily silence (limit) legitimate instances that have been overrun by spam bots and haven't closed their registrations yet.

A list (will be updated) of legitimate instances affected by mass sign-up of spam bots known to us currently includes:

  • mastodon-swiss.org
  • det.social (closed their registrations, but still large amounts of spam)
  • mstdn.business
  • planetearth.social
  • piaille.fr
  • mstdn.social
  • mastouille.fr
  • wehavecookies.social
  • birdon.social

It is imperative that instance admins close their registrations (prevent new users from signing up unsupervised) until this has been dealt with! Legitimate instances run the risk of being mistaken for dedicated spam instances as tons of bots sign up and spread spam from there.

[fr] La fonctionnalité de traduction est de nouveau opérationnelle sur Eldritch Café. Cette fois ci nous utilisons LibreTranslate ce qui évitera que les membres de l'instance entraînent l'algorithme de DeepL avec les textes présents sur le fediverse.

Ok so let's get a few things straight.

  1. "Big admins" complaining about the community being pissed at them for meeting with meta under NDA is their fault and their fault only. Some admin blocking mastodon.art for being vocal about this is bullcrap. If you could not anticipate the fact that bragging on Mastodon about having a secret private meeting with Meta would spark anger, that's on you. Isn't the first rule of NDA "do not talk about NDA", by the way ?

  2. Meta has no good intentions, they don't plan on "playing nice" with smaller actors. Thinking otherwise is very naive. They plan on nipping potential competitors in the bud and make a profit. If they cared about anything else than big players and their user base and wanted to embrace the Fediverse as a concept, they would not discuss their plans only with big actors behing closed doors would they? They're trying to "join" a community that identifies as a healthy alternative to them and start with an NDA. What. Could. Go. Wrong.

  3. Meta is the company that allowed meddling with elections. They're the company that slowly removed from your timeline everything you loved to replace it with things they think you would be stupid enough to click on. They're a company that followed suit with Musk's "premium verification" concept to propose a similar product. There is NO REASON to trust meta and "wait and see". We ALREADY KNOW that Meta is evil and have had proof over and over.

  4. How arrogant do you have to be to think that once you allowed a company like Meta in your garden, you could reverse everything and undo any harm they're doing with "just 2 clicks" (sic) ? This is hubris.

Block Meta. "Big admins", in their arrogance, are playing a very dangerous game for all of us and they did not consult the community before doing so, which is kind of telling as well.
