Bollocksphere.

Did I just invent a word? It’s a keeper.

DMLeathley,
@DMLeathley@mastodon.social avatar

@ianRobinson Or you've invented a synonym for 'testicle'.

DMLeathley,
@DMLeathley@mastodon.social avatar

@ianRobinson I'm reminded me of the Devil's Dictionary-esque office slang:

Testiculating: waving your hands around while talking bollocks

“What started the downfall Grandpa?”

“It was the apostrophes Billy. It started with removing the apostrophes.”

🤦🏻‍♂️Residents spoken to by the BBC urged the authority to retain apostrophes or risk "everything going downhill".

For the record. I’m not agreeing with the "everything going downhill" contingent.

@ianRobinson Also one for the "people in local news pointing at things" collection. Also: Harrogate, an absurdly posh bit of Yorkshire. Considering how close it is to where I grew up (south Leeds), I've only been there a handful of times.

"The Fall Guy" was great fun.

My ★★★★ review of The Fall Guy on Letterboxd https://boxd.it/6oYx5x

@ianRobinson Yep - shared it through this (Android) which generated the link.

Okay. I need to be in my seat at Dundonald Omniplex MAXX in exactly 4 hours to watch The Fall Guy.

I have an approximately 1000-word article to finish, edit, proofread, and upload before I can call it quits for the day.

Let's go!

DMLeathley,

@ianRobinson Going to watch it tonight. Good luck!

@ianRobinson I saw Neil Hannon interviewed by Richard Herring. The genesis of TDLM came up. It involved a late night in the pub, shockingly!

@ianRobinson Can't remember how I stumbled across Ed, but I like his worldview a lot. And his creative use of English swearing, untempered by years living in the States.

I get his newsletter and his '15 Minutes In Hell' podcast last year was great.

I bought a bag of Starburst chews. Each one is individually wrapped in paper, and getting the sweet unwrapped is a huge pain. Several have ended their journey from the factory half opened in my bin!

@ianRobinson 1999? I could have sworn it was earlier, while I was: a) at university; and b) an NME reader.
Maybe they were always in NME while unsigned/pre-album/relentlessly gigging around That London.

I didn't doubt it for a second, yet it's still wonderful to be reassured of the inherent soundness, decency and humanity of Michael Palin, on foot of others reacting personally to this splendid interview.
