Autistic people need meaningful support with their mental health, and they need it vegore reaching adulthood.

The fact that services like CAMHS turn us away is highly unethical. In the UK, mental and physical health are supposed to have parity, and yet our government does nothing to make sure these services are fit for purpose.

It shouldn't fall on us to fix this. We shouldn't be an afterthought.

"Mental health services that lack competence are dangerous.

Autistic people need support that won't make them worse."

Campaigning to be seen by services is the start.

Services like are horrendously undersigned at supporting people.

We need to continue to fight to make sure that these services do more than pay lip service.

Autistic people deserve good quality support.

professionals are notoriously unskilled at working with children.

There answer? To refuse to support them.

This is not okay, Autistic children are significantly more likely than their non-Autistic peers to need CAMHS.

@Pathfinder @actuallyautistic @autisticadvocacy I agree, there is a conscious element to masking. I just feel that Tanya's point about how much of it is unconscious is very important to remember.

The important take away (in my opinion) is that masking isn't always trying to appear neurotypical. That's a mistruth that we have almost all come to accept at some point.

What I hope people take away from this is that unmasking does not mean "appearing less neurotypical".

@hakirsch @Pathfinder @actuallyautistic @autisticadvocacy it's largely because society is set up for a neurotypical performance. Neurotypical performance is based in polytropic thinking.

Because Autistic people are monotropic, it leads to monotropic split, which causes burnout.
