@hpkomic Many thanks. I've seen a ton of things like this done about Mario and Zelda, but once you leave the immediate sphere of Nintendo-driven nostalgia the desire to probe deeper feels like it drops off

@trixter I had the idea last night to try making a custom retro pizza version of it by using font matching and my modest artistic skills.

Unfortunately the logo is an SVG file and that's a place that my skills don't really extend to. So after trying for about an hour... I gave up.

Trying out the TamperMonkey Kbin enhancement script on @MattTheDev 's @NerdBin instance and it works great. Had to make a tiny tweak (adding nerdbin.social to the list of sites it's looking for) but that's something anybody should be able to do

Would still love to see it maybe including followed "Magazines" on the sidebar instead of hidden in the Settings menu, but that's a battle for better coders than I

@heyfluxay Not yet, alas. Keeping an eye out for it. Thought I might be able to finagle something myself, but then I cracked open the code and immediately started bleeding from both eyes.

If I got deep into it, like I used to back in the Wordpress days when I was building custom webcomic sites for people, I could PROBABLY figure something out, but by the time I did someone else would have already come up with and implemented a better solution anyway

After playing around with both of them for a couple of days, I like the form factor and interface of kbin a lot more than Lemmy, but kbin (at least the instance I'm on) seems to have a lot of trouble keeping connected to the greater fediverse.

Having tried multiple headsets I've survived this long with VR, I'm sure I can live without the Vision Pro.

I am still a little hazy how the different "things" in the fediverse differentiate themselves from one another, and I'm even more confused now

kbin.social had somoene post suggesting you join other kbin instances as they're getting overwhelmed, and the ones they linked to look like kbin but appear to be pulling from the same federated pool as Lemmy.

Even kbin says the only reason they can't see/reach Lemmy is because they're running cloudflare too

@wheeljack @heyfluxay @LewieKong So... I know all the fediverse things can talk to one another (at least hypothetically) and I can follow a peertube acct from here or something similar...

But if kbin and Lemmy are that fundementally interoperable, wouldn't that basically just imply that kbin is more like... an alternate front-end for the same internals? I'm really confused where the line is drawn between UI and content on these things.

I was warned off using Lemmy by a few different people, but as far as I can tell they are functionally the same and put you in the same general realms of the fediverse, it's just the front-end parts of the Lemmy interface was developed by some possibly sketch people, who might still own the original "prime" Lemmy server too

It's like it was an email client that can only send emails within the same corporation - me@dodo.caca can email you@dodo.caca but not him@peepee.fart because I can only email within dodo.caca

If so... is there any benefit to kbin at all?
