Dubious_Fart,

I’m seeing several posts that are startling evidence for the essential nature of proper sex education, lol.

Dubious_Fart,

Ah yes… forever and again, the siren song of children being used as an excuse for draconian, rights eroding legislation… its amazing how much responsibility parents have shirked to the state as they replace babysitters with cellphones and tablets.

Dubious_Fart,

I think you will find any place thats well moderated and cracks down on bigotry and hatespeech will skew left.

Weird how that is, huh?

Dubious_Fart,

in one of the WAN shows he went on a big handwringing tirade about how “unions means I’m a failure as an employer” with undertones of “You wouldnt want to make me a failure by unionizing, right?”

Dubious_Fart,

And this is why Lienus hates unions so much, cause it would have held him and his company accountable for the nasty, abusive shit they do behind the scenes.

GN spends the first segment of their GN News to responding to Linus's comments, and reveals that Linus mislead people on the Billet compensation. (youtu.be)

According to Billet themselves, they heard nothing about compensation or payback until about 3 hours after the original GN video went live… Which Billet hadnt even replied to before Linus made his post saying they’ve already made the deal on compensation.

Dubious_Fart,

Nah.

GN didnt destroy Linus.

GN just assembled everything into a easily digestable package.

It was Linus’s Ego that destroyed Linus.

Dubious_Fart,

Linus is a narcissist.

Narcissists have to prove how wrong everyone else was.

They have to control the narrative.

And when all else fails, they have to make themselves look like the victim, so they get all the positive attention.

Thats why he cant shut up, and always doubles down to make everything worse.

Dubious_Fart,

LTT Prioritizes quantity of content over quality of content, knowingly pushes bad data, adds afterthought text updates (in the form of youtube comments) which never cover anything but the most egregious wrongs and sometimes dont even get pinned until called out, major conflicts of interest especially with noctua, ASUS, and Framework, oh… and the got a prototype GPU block from a company, intentionally and knowingly mounted it to the wrong card, published the bad video and data anyway, then when criticized for that…Linus used the WAN show to attack the company claiming its products are failures that no one should ever buy.

Then, despite saying they would return the prototype several times, ended up selling it at auction instead… Where it could eventually end up in the hands of a competitor.

and the worst thing about it all, is that its a known problem, that even LTT people in the recent ask LTT employees video all universally agree to the same basic premise of “To many videos, not enough time to polish/check”

Dubious_Fart,

There should be actual, legitimate, law enforcement involvement… Cause its literally theft at best, corporate espionage at worst.

Dubious_Fart,

Probably wont find out until next WAN show, and I’m sure we’ll see the same look we see in Lukes eyes every time Linus starts off being blatantly wrong and unable to admit it.

Genuinely gotta wonder how much more of it Luke has in him.

Dubious_Fart,

Streaming has become cable 2.0.

It was wonderful when everything was on one, maybe two providers. Could watch everything in a very easy, very affordable way.

But everyone saw that, went “I know, I want that money!” and spent billions building their own individual infrastructures so make their own streaming services, and right around we go right back to the absolute worst days of cable and bullshit.

Only thing stopping me from saying fuck it and downloading shit I want to watch, is the fact that I no longer know what the good sites are… since I havent pirated since the heyday of the bay.

New Anti-Consumer MacBook Pros - Teardown And Repair Assessment - Apple Silicon M1/M2 (youtu.be)

No surprises here. Just like the lockdown on iPhone screen and part replacements, Macbooks suffer from the same Apple’s anti-repair and anti-consumer bullshit. Battery glued, ssd soldered in and can’t even swap parts with other official parts. 6000$ laptop and you don’t even own it.

Dubious_Fart, (edited )

another example of why apple laptops are so expensive.

80% of the price is to cover the R&D for fucking over the consumer.

Seriously, tying the goddamn *hall effect sensor to the system so it cant be replaced? Thats some freaking cyberpunk level corpo shitbaggery.

Dubious_Fart,

please use hydrogen and not helium if you do this.

Helium is a precious, essential, non-renewable resource that the world is actually running out of.

It's not just Adobe. Now Logitech wants me to go to a random website in order to add peripherals to my computer, and I'm met with this when I go to the page they tell me to (lemmy.world)

As if it wasn’t bad enough that they want me to use a random internet service to add a keyboard to a usb wifi receiver, they have the balls to put this for Firefox users. I clicked out of pure curiosity, as I’m not even remotely interested in involving a corporate internet service in getting my keyboard connected to my...

Dubious_Fart,

Any simple device, that should just work by plugging it into your computer, that instead demands an internet connection between you and the device… is 100% a device thats designed to steal your information/habits/etc.

because there is no reason to have the expenditure and costs of running a webservice otherwise.

Hi, we're a tech startup run by libertarian Silicon Valley tech bros.

We're not a newspaper, we're a content portal.
We're not a taxi service, we're a ride sharing app.
We're not a pay TV service, we're a streaming platform.
We're not a department store, we're an e-commerce marketplace.
We're not a financial services firm, we're crypto.
We're not a space agency, we're a group of visionaries who are totally going to Mars next year.
We're not a copywriting and graphic design agency, we're a large language model generative AI platform.

Oh sure, we compete against those established businesses. We basically provide the same goods and services.

But we're totally not those things. At least from a legal and PR standpoint.

And that means all the laws and regulations that have built up over the decades around those industries don't apply to us.

Things like consumer protections, privacy protections, minimum wage laws, local content requirements, safety regulations, environmental protections... They totally don't apply to us.

Even copyright laws — as long as we're talking about everyone else's intellectual property.

We're going to move fast and break things — and then externalise the costs of the things we break.

We've also raised several billion in VC funding, and we'll sell our products below cost — even give them away for free for a time — until we run our competition out of the market.

Once we have a near monopoly, we'll enshitify the hell out of our service and jack up prices.

You won't believe what you agreed to in our terms of service agreement.

We may also be secretly hoarding your personal information. We know who you are, we know where you work, we know where you live. But you can trust us.

By the time the regulators and the general public catch on to what we're doing, we will have well and truly moved on to our next grift.

By the way, don't forget to check out our latest innovation. It's the Uber of toothpaste!

Dubious_Fart,

It took longer than I care to admit to realize this was satire.

Which says something about the world and life.

Dubious_Fart,

I wonder what has the other half of the Linux market. Linux, perhaps?
