Hallo, I'm Em. I play things with strings and secretly believe music is the highest good humanity is capable of. Voluntary exile from both cities I think of as home. I miss them.

FYI all posts toast at 8 weeks, and I am way too tired to argue anymore.Take it or leave it.

If you thought we could survive all of this madness, think again. We’re at war with stupidity on a previously unimaginable scale.

It's certainly at war with us.

Great visual.

Billions in profit. Billions. Spent years ravenously gobbling up game studios. And now they're chopping them down so they can keep .000001% more gain this fiscal year.

Smart.

I'm a latecomer to video games. They were sanity-saving when the plague hit and it was wisest to stay home. The potential and scope for interactive storytelling is amazing. What we mostly get instead, especially from the big corpos, is a bit saddening. It's the gaming industry that added phrases like "minimum viable product" to my vocabulary. bleeeeeeeh

Good on you for not streaming music. That industry is doing everything it can to starve all the artists to death.

Yeeeeah the thing is, if we knew the medical facts about all of our elected officials, the brain worm would fit right in.

Alzheimer's and, say, syphilis, don't give a crap how rich or powerful anybody is. js

And brain fog from that ongoing plague everybody's pretending isn't happening. For another example.

I am just taking my elders' word that Jerry Seinfeld was funny at some point. See also: Bill Maher. Even when I dig for that funny past, all I can find is petulant whining. 🤷‍♀️

As opposed to comedians from longer ago, your Lucilles Ball or Grouchos Marx, who still hold up. :thinkerguns: Oooo wow now I need some of that. It's good to laugh. Replays of that goofy American "Whose Line is it Anyway" are gold.

Frasier? The dry delivery cracks me up. It strikes me as an extra Gen X, cool and detached, kind of comedy.

It's always little amusing when some poor soul finds out an author they like is a massive asshole who cares for no one and nothing but himself and perhaps other wealthy white men

when

the open misogyny in his work should have given you a clue, my lad. Always a reliable sign of brain worms.

The perverse incentives to 🏴‍☠️ are kind of amusing, but the fraud is not. I would never have guessed "I should own the things I buy" would be a hill we'd have to fight on.

Yeah, that's a problem. Our federal representatives tend toward embarrassingly tech-illiterate, and the ones that aren't have bigger issues to deal with. This campaign might work though, if enough people get behind it. "They're stealing from us, here is exactly how to make them stop," is a clear, strong position.

So this is what Microsoft is up to now? Sad. It is a pathetic company. Maybe the EU and FTC need to look into this kind of stuff. Trust and Microsoft have no relationship. If you care about your privacy, never use anything built by MS. Use Firefox or other browsers. I don’t use edge or windows but it was posted https://twitter.com/ianzelbo/status/1777450065214271750?s=46 here. I am amused by how they are abusing their power.

Microsoft nagging users when they try to download other browsers and it says: There's no need to download a new web browser. Microsoft recommends using Microsoft Edge for a fast, secure, and moder experience that can help save you time and money.

After my sister's death, I discovered she had a little box of letters she'd received from authors she wrote to. Like, so many letters. So many wrote back to her, sent her little friendly sketches, answered lore questions, told her she was going to be ok.

Lots of people - maybe most - are lovely. Kind. Generous. It's been getting harder and harder for me to remember this. I have one of the little toys from that box on my desk, smiling at me while I read the news and answer email. :patcat:

I remember in 2004, when John Kerry received the Democratic nomination; specifically, I remember thinking it was all over for the Republicans. George W. Bush had dodged the draft, after all, and John Kerry was a decorated veteran of the Vietnam War.
