It’s our 5th wedding anniversary next month, and we’ve booked a weekend away to Prague.

There's a certain mentality that says, "the traffic is awful, we can't get anywhere. And now they want us not to use our cars"
Around me, that tends to be older people mostly, retired and going nowhere at rush hour. And, it's never an access thing, they can use other transport, but just want to drive

@ronanmcd incidentally an amusing letter to the Bournemouth Echo yesterday that for the sake of brevity but the loss of nuance I will call "against the council implementing active travel measures", which ended with a fantastic challenge that if the councillors are so keen on active travel they should get rid of all the car parking spaces at the town hall and make their ways to the town hall by public transport, bike or on foot. I started out scowling and ended up cheering.

@ronanmcd also, hypothetically were I employed, and the office health and safety team announced the provision of stop signs in the car park because of a near miss the other day, I would be sorely tempted to suggest they follow the safety management priority list and remove the hazard rather than try to mitigate it 😆

I ordered some red squirrel plush toys to have around the shop as we love the reds here on the Isle of Wight.

Our stock room is pretty much just a large under stairs cupboard so they've taken over somewhat! Think I'll squeeze them back in their box 🐿️

  1. Found my skis & boots with 15 mins to spare before going to the dry slope with Roach Minimus for an inset day treat.

Turns out my home internal firewall rules were a touch too aggressive which explains why I couldn't connect to the new server I was trying to get setup. I probably need to spend some time getting all the rules setup properly on there at some point!

Pannier clip snapped so stuffed the pannier under rear rack spring clip, obscuring light, so thank you everyone for driving considerately & to the 3 who took the time to lower their windows and roar "LOIGHTS" in their charming Dorset accents as they white-vanned past. As if I wasn't aware, sonny.

  1. My keep-your-clothes-flat-&-dry technology, improvised from corrugated cardboard and a bin liner, worked.

  2. I concentrated so hard on (1) but managed to deal with one of the consequences, which was not taking any clean underwear to work. I will not be commenting further on this matter.

  3. Put the cat 🐈 among the 🐦🐦 with an Awkward Question at work today 😆

  1. Leaving the cabin after work this evening I could see my way home without a torch. Something tangible re: longer evenings.

  3. Which as I have knocked up a thing to keep my folded clothes flat in my bike pannier tomorrow (work clothes changeover day) out of a sheet of corrugated cardboard and a bin liner

I left the Merlin Bird ID app running for 20 minutes when I was out walking Arthur this morning and there were lots of songs surrounding us!
No linnets, tree creepers, goldcrest or green woodpeckers detected today. I did see a green woodpecker though, but he wasn't very vocal for a change!

Starting to transfer the track plan from my head, and the planning software, into the real world. Depth of the "scenic" part (red line) quite constrained by the depth of the fiddle yard behind it. But should be okay.

@sharongascoigne nicely timed! And better with the manmade light on Culver Down than without, I think. Drags your eye along the trees and then down the little reflection. Without that it's static. 🧐
