Furbag,

Now I kinda want to see a “This meeting could have been a…” alignment chart.

This meeting could have been an email - Lawful Good

This meeting could have been rescheduled - Chaotic Good

This meeting could have been a potluck - Neutral Good

This meeting could have been a series of consecutive meetings - Lawful Evil

Furbag,

I wish more places just dyed the fabric. I have some shirts that are 10+ years old and look exactly like the day I bought them and they all are graphic tees with the image dyed into the shirt itself. The ones I have with a plastic-y decoration on the front, even if I take all the special precautions that other posters mention in the thread, will inevitably crack and wear out over time.

My problem is I want to get a custom design printed, and a lot of places will advertise that they screen print, but if you go to their website and create a custom design you find that they either won’t do less than X number of shirts as a minimum order, or they will just vinyl print it anyway and send you that for $35 and it will fall apart almost instantly.

Furbag,

We already have the Cube Rule of Food Identification Unifying Theory. Tacos are Tacos. Burritos are Wraps. These guys need to get with the program. We base our food taxonomy on the specific arrangement of carbohydrates like civilized people.

Furbag,

How2Drink on YouTube lol.this definitely seems like it would make the next episode of Cursed Cocktails.

Furbag,

If you take someone into your custody via an arrest, you are then responsible for their wellbeing. This is common sense.

Imagine if someone is in the middle of a shallow river getting arrested. Would it be okay to hold their head underwater while you are restraining them? Of course not.

The officer is responsible for making sure that the suspect is not put into harms way during the course of having them in their custody. If they fail that very basic expectation, they should not be in law enforcement period.

Furbag,

Typically in LDRs you take every opportunity (within reason) to see each other. If he’s saying he doesn’t want to see you when you are able to, I’d consider that a red flag for sure. At the very least, it demands some explanation beyond just that there would be nothing to do.

I think if you press him on this, he’ll come clean and admit that he wants to break things off for whatever reason. Maybe he’s lost interest, or maybe he is ashamed of being gay, I don’t really know, but there definitely seems to be more to it than what you’ve already been told.

Furbag,

The fact that this race is even remotely close is un-fucking-believable.

Furbag,

American Rescue Plan reversed much of the damage done by the pandemic

Unemployment at historic lows

Expanded access to healthcare coverage

Passed bipartisan infrastructure bill

CHIPS Act

Inflation Reduction Act has brought inflation back under control

Rejoined the Paris Climate Accord

Passed sweeping student debt relief for millions of students burdened with predatory loans

And yes, rescheduled cannabis after a century of prohibition

All in just one term.

Wow, you’re right, he’s done nothing, guess I’ll just vote for the dude with 91 felony charges who talks about being a dictator on day one, or maybe the dude with the brain worm. Really tough choice.

Furbag,

For example, they ( mostly miyomoto ) has been quoted to not understand that people want another f-zero, as the game’s principals and ideas have been fully flushed out and no new ideas could make it feel like something new.

This is also why we’ll never get another Star Fox.

sad furry noises 😿

Furbag,

Do they think they won?

Yes, they really do think they won. They think the government caved in to pressure and that COVID “went away” like they said it would.

Of course, none of that lines up with reality, but they won’t admit that they were ever wrong at any point.

Furbag,

Couldn’t agree more. There’s a huge misunderstanding that the President is the most important facet of government, but the Executive has remarkably little ability to influence the law aside from directing the various agencies on how they should operate and utilizing the power of veto to check the legislative.

Trump won’t be a dictator on day one because that’s not how the office of President works. He will be, though, if Project 2025 is allowed to be implemented and they get rid of all the barriers to him having unilateral unchecked authority. This is also predicated on the possibility that he will not be held accountable by the courts and the Supreme Court rules that he can commit crimes and label them as “official acts”.

The big misunderstanding is that people think Trump alone can fulfill all of his campaign promises and Biden simply won’t, when the reality is that Biden can’t do it alone and neither can Trump (yet).

Furbag,

If we were playing War Thunder, this would be “CREW KNOCKED OUT” just waiting to happen.

Furbag,

Wow, what a man of the people… Truly a candidate who has the best interests of every American at heart.

Furbag,

I would call this a free pass to vandalize the shit out of that car. Bologna on the windshield should do the trick this time of year.

Struggling to tolerate wife's haircut

I typically don’t care about things like hairstyle, makeup or clothes. But my wife has started giving herself a buzz cut and I simply hate it. I told her and she grew it out for a while, but she said longer hair was making her depressed and it needed to be a buzz cut. She said it just looks like her when she sees it. Part of...

Furbag,

You guys need couples therapy, not advice from internet strangers on Lemmy. This is an issue that’s going to take some serious unpacking and that requires a professional’s help.

Furbag, (edited )

Just like in 2016, he called the election rigged and that he wouldn’t accept the results. And then he won, and suddenly, all the wolf cries of “it’s rigged” vanished into thin air and they started saying how it was the most significant election of all time, a true underdog come-from-behind win, and wow look how big the crowd size is at my inauguration, I bet Obama didn’t pull a crowd like that! Nothing ever mentioned about it being rigged again except for how he should have won by even wider margins than he did.

I fucking hate Trump with every fiber of my body. How stupid do you have to be to look at this guy or listen to him speak and take away anything other than the fact that he’s an egomaniac who has never been held accountable for anything in his entire life? If anybody ever says positive things about him in front of me for the rest of my life, that person is dead to me.

Furbag,

I thought for sure the housing market would implode after the moratorium for evictions during COVID expired.

I was wrong. Corporations just own too much real estate for something like that to make a dent.

Furbag,

My sleep paralysis demon wanted to know how much two and a half cups was in liters, but whispered it too quietly.

Furbag,

Guy’s gotten ten warnings

Playing Devil’s Advocate here, but nine of those were all reviewed at the same time, and while the decision to group them all together and issue a final warning was pending, the tenth violation was committed. Technically, and this is a really big fuckin’ technically, he has not committed any violations since being put “on notice” that the monetary punishments are over and the jail time would start. They decided on one today that occurred before that decision, so they’re not holding it to the same standard.

I do believe the next violation will carry jail time, without a doubt. Trump has also mostly shut up since being put on notice as well because he doesn’t want to be put in a cell any more than you or I do.

But it is extremely, maddeningly frustrating that Trump has gotten away with it so far. The Judge’s decision today proves beyond a doubt that the law is not being equally applied in favor of Trump himself.

Honestly, I don’t know if I could be an impartial judge in this case, because knowing Trump I would have warned him the very second he stepped foot in the courtroom that he was already on notice and that he should expect jail time if even a single word escaped his mouth that is in violation of the gag order that was already in place. Maybe Judge Merchan is more magnanimous, more cool-headed, or simply too wary of the blowback from applying the law equally with a megalomaniac like Trump who has an army of idiots at his back. I don’t know. All I know is, I don’t think he’s out of line just yet, but hearing statements like “I don’t want to put you in jail” for a guy who is too rich for fines to have an impact on is not reassuring.

How do people actually dumpster dive to get free food? Are there any other cheap/free ways like this to get food?

My local food bank can only provide 8 packages with referrals every time before you run out, and I have, but my situation hasn’t improved financially due to various set backs and I’m struggling to feed myself. I’ve heard that supermarkets throw out massive amounts, but have never been in a position where dumpster diving...

Furbag,

A lot of restaurants end up throwing out food that would otherwise be perfectly edible.

If you’re a polite and patient individual, you might be able to build up some rapport with the owner or the workers. When my friend was in college, he could barely afford to feed himself most of the time. He was friendly with the cashier at a local fast food place and asked if they could set aside any orders that get sent back (due to being wrong) and give them to him instead of tossing them in the garbage. Not everybody will do this for you, but it’s worth asking. I think generally store employees and managers are sympathetic enough to not care about what happens to product that was destined for the garbage anyway so they typically agree.

Furbag,

There’s definitely some variance out there. Some managers care about their employees and have a conscience, which would make them more likely to sympathize with a hungry dude who can’t pay. Others are the typical Scrooge McDuck caricature and go out of their way to be cruel to others.

I think generally in my experience chain restaurant managers tend to get promoted from within the company and start at the lowest position, so they have more perspective on what it’s like to be at the bottom rung of society and have a bit more empathy for those who have unfortunately sunk even lower than that. Private business managers on the other hand, it depends. Some are guided by their own morality, while others have a chip on their shoulder about how they made it without help and so can everyone else (which is total nonsense, in order for there to be winners in capitalism, there must also necessarily be losers, so not everybody is going to make a success of themselves in that way no matter how much effort they expend).

Furbag,

Biden/Trump/Whoever is president could simply officially order one of his top officers to push a button that drops a hellfire missile on their political opponent and then pardon them. The President is the commander-in-chief of the armed forces and also has the executive privilege of pardon available to them at their discretion for any reason or no reason at all. I’m 100% sure the president will find somebody in the chain of command with morals flexible enough to obey such an order.

And since you can’t go after the man himself because a corrupt SCOTUS is apparently poised to rule that they have immunity for “official acts” which is a nebulously defined term that can apply to literally any heinous act that they want, the country has essentially created a king by proxy.

Furbag,

As much as people hate to hear the “it’s complicated” answer in regards to anything regarding Israeli affairs, well, it’s pretty complicated… But to name a few reasons:

Religious fundamentalism/Zionism in the United States has been forcing politicians to take sides or else alienate their constituents - Christian fundamentalism is bizarrely in favor of a Jewish state because it fulfills their own doomsday prophecy, not for any logical reasons or out of a genuine desire to help the Jewish people.

Weapons manufacturers and arms dealers are lobbying to keep Israel as a partner considering they are almost always mired in some kind of conflict. It’s a multi billion dollar industry and the people who make guns, bombs, artillery shells and ammunition are not keen of giving up their cash cow.

Consider of course the historical ties and diplomatic agreements, which if flippantly broken send a message of unreliability to other allied nations (I’m not sure I totally agree with this one, as the USA is basically a schizo nation flipping back and forth once every 4-8 years between isolationism and globalism depending on which party holds office).

Lastly, since the Cold War, the USA has kept Israel close to project their own influence in the middle east. Countries like Egypt or Saudi Arabia would have to think twice about provoking the United States considering who their neighbor is. Great strategic location bordering the Mediterranean Sea that makes it easy for USA to get soldiers on the continent if it ever comes to that.

Furbag,

You need to learn how to forgive yourself first. Do you think a minor detail like that would have been something that would have convinced your partner to leave you? It sounds like you two worked everything out and built up that trust again. Bringing it up now only serves to clear your own conscience at the cost of opening up old wounds.

Look, you acknowledge that you made a mistake, you’ve atoned for the bad things that you’ve done and made amends with your partner, and you’ve found a blissful happiness. It’s time to let that baggage go and forget the past. It won’t be easy, but the first step is to realize that everybody is fallible and that sometimes we make mistakes and we can’t always rely on having our guilt absolved by another.
